- Riiingggg
- Hello?
- Hey Lestat, dude how are you?
- Who is this?
- Lord Vampyr, do you remember me? You know, from Theatres Des Vampires!
- Who are you???
- Come on Lestat!
- My name is NOT Lestat, is Tom!
- Oh, you can't fool me, I know who you are, Lestat de Lioncourt, you fooled everyone with that "Tom Cruise" pose, you can be yourself now man, relax, I'm one of yours, I'm Lord Vampyr!!
- ........ (hangs phone)
- Lestat?
- Lestat?

If someone took the vampire pose way too serious, is Lord Vampyr, you might remember him as the ex-frontman of Black-Gothic Metal band Theatres Des vampires.
Sadly, he got kicked out of the band for reasons unknown to me, maybe he was stealing Scarlet's make up, I can't really tell.

Anyway, jobless and about to slit his veins, Lord Vampyr had a great idea, to form his own band! The creative process was hard and extenuating, but he finally came with the perfect name for his band: Lord Vampyr! Hey! Vampires are supposed to be evil and sexy, not smart.

Yeah, I know this band is totally laughable, but actually, the Cd is not bad at all, and that was a surprise! Lord Vampyr delivers a enjoyable album filled with Gothic and Black Metal references. Songs are quite good and the musicianship is also a plus here, tempo changes and some other twists give pleasant surprise to the listener.

Other thing that impressed me was the production, this album is very well done, the instruments have the exact amount of presence in the mix, and the keyboards are in the front, giving the sound a creepy atmosphere. Lord Vampyr can sing, can growl, can shriek, can whisper, and occasionally relies on the female singer to back him up.

While the music is not the most brutal stuff you've heard this year, it has some memorable parts, like "Carmilla? Whispers From The Grave" an excellent opener song, but songs like the failed attempt of dark poetry "Blood Lovers" tend to bring the attention of the listener down. Another great song is "Morgana" (although the clean vocals still don't convince me). The album closes with a 10+ minute song, which is interesting until certain point, the band is not THAT good to keep me entertained through 10 minutes.

Lord Vampyr didn't created a genre here, he just named it. But he was smart enough to not repeat himself and he does something completely different from what Theatres Des Vampires is doing right now, and that's gotta be worth something. Take a chance and give Lord Vampyr and his brides an opportunity to enter your blood torrent.
