Best of 84 for me:
Ride the Lightning, Powerslave, Defenders of the Faith, Metal Church, Last in Line, Don't Break the Oath

Those first three plus Psalm 9 are elite level all time favs to me, in most other years they'd be easy number ones. Feels like disrespecting them by putting them below that.

Admittedly I still need to check out Metal Church and Last in Line, if I do I might have to pick a bigger number than 6 - there's also Bathory, Grim Reaper, Saint Vitus, Manowar and a shit-ton others to consider. 84 was an amazing year.

A very good year indeed, one of the best in the decade imo, very consistent, and other genre's beginning to form such as thrash.

Yes, with the big thrash acts becoming grown ups we have the first great year in metal.

4. 666 - Nekrofilie (weird ass heavy / first wave black from czechoslovakia)

6. Exciter - Heavy Metal Maniac
7. Ramleh - The Hand of Glory (noise)
8. Berliner Philharmoniker / Herbert von Karajan - The Planets
9. Metallica - Kill 'Em All
10. Dio - Holy Diver

Great list the top 5 is hard to question though I would switch them around.
