I think you might enjoy Watain - Lawless Darkness. A good mix of old-school black metal and melody, clearly influenced by Dissection.

Oh, thanks for the rec, man! Will check out

That album actually (and somewhat hilariously) won the Grammis (Swedish version of Grammy awards) for "hard rock album of the year" back in 2010, over three other nominees that play various kinds of easy listening hard rock and stoner rock. The award ceremony was... well, they look kind of out of place to say the least (not to mention the guys in the audience breaking out into a "hail Satan!" now and then). Still, was good to see black metal getting featured in such a public setting and getting well deserved recognition, it's really an excellent album and I'd go so far as to say it's the standard to which I measure all other meloblack since.... I'm surprised you haven't heard it, it should be next on your list

Also check out more Watain I guess if you haven't. Sworn to the dark, Casus Luciferi, The Wild Hunt and The Agony & Ecstasy are all great albums too in their own ways

Whenever I write something funny, weird, or pretentious... I learned English by playing Baldur's Gate, okay?
