Sometimes bands come through with releases that impress you to the point you say "damn, I really oughta be on the lookout for their future releases now." So when those future releases finally do come, it's a pretty special moment. Here I am in 2020 with Borgne.

Needs multiple listens to sink in, but well worth your time. The best album of their new sound for sure.

Lots of subtleties and nuance here to keep things interesting beyond the typical atmo-black foundation, as mentioned by Che in his review. Hints of alt/industrial undertones and synths that border on cheesy but don't quite reach that level of ridiculousness.

And the hypnotic guitar effect is eerily reminiscent of Sun Of The Blind, which is never a bad thing.

I didn't think I would like this new direction of Borgne but I really do. The album doesn't cut back on black metal to make way for industrial sounds and for that I am grateful. But still this is a more melodic more approachable album than their previous outputs.
