Poland became quite the hotbed for interesting heavy stoner/psychedelic music in the decade just gone; amongst the leaders of this emerging pack, Dopelord are arguably the most conventional-sounding, and with that comes pros and cons.

"The Witching Hour Bell" is incredibly reminiscent of Monolord's "Empress Rising" and if the rest of the album played out in that style, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. It isn't nearly as immersive the way they alternate between pace and flow but there are still plenty of good ideas on display here. I just would have preferred them individually explored rather than simultaneously across the same album. Good on them for doubling down on the Sabbathian Wizard influences and not giving in to concerns about originality. Being unique doesn't always translate to high quality material.
