The Rift … is a hexalogy of songs inspired by humanity in its worst and purest form, a meditation through cruelty … an attempt to pursue the meaning of it all and foreshadow our demise through it.” With a description like that, you’ll be amazed to find out that this album is bleak and miserable.

"NB!!! ALBUM RELEASE: MARCH 18, 2022.
- Scheduled to be readjusted due to Bandcamp regulations

“The Rift” is the second full-length album of Swedish Sludge/Post-Metal band Gloson, where a Hexalogy of songs was inspired by humanity in its worst and purest form, that is, a meditation through cruelty as well as the indifference towards it that has been seen throughout history. The album is an attempt to pursue the meaning of it all and to foreshadow our demise through it.

Not entirely clear to me whether it will be a digital release in late February and then an actual physical release in March, or if they're just struggling to put in the correct date into Bandcamp, but either way, looking forward to more Gloson

Arguably my most anticipated early 2022 release.

I'm very impressed by this release I must say, there's some great moments in here, and the atmosphere can be quite dramatic at times too. It takes a wee bit to get going for me at first, as for me it mostly starts as a typical sludge release with post-metal elements, and nothing special.

It would have been a 7 all the way, if not a 6, that is until you hit the final two tracks, which just about push my rating to an 8. Those tracks, especially "Cerberus IV", make the album go from decent post-metal/sludge to great post-metal/sludge.

Funnily enough, I listened to this album on the way home yesterday. I do like the first half more than you (makes sense given my usual preferences), but yeah, Cerberus IV is the obvious highlight of the album, really takes it to another level
