Why don't more people have this album...

A very good black metal release.

The problem with this album is how incredibly inconsistent it is in both quality and style. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea that the members kept changing instruments, vocals and songwriting? The first 3 tracks for example sound nothing alike. First track has an odd dissonant guitar with distorted growls. Cool at first but it ends up tedious. Points for originality though. Second track is absolutely crap with a shitty sound and "rocking" riffs that are supposed to feel punkish(?). The third one being a more passable mid-tempo album with a hypnotic vibe and great vocals. Same goes for the fourth one with a sound that is even more akin to Leviathan and Lurker Of Chalice. The russian roulette feeling I get with this album is really off-putting. I guess there is a reason why most of the members here work better in their solo projects. They simply can't write properly with other people. At the end of the day I think the best songs are the ones that are similar to Leviathan (and a bit of Xasthur) in the second half of the album but withouth being nearly as good as the aforementioned projects.

I'll check out the next album tomorrow. I got a compilation aeons ago with the first two records. but it looks like I'm going to give it away as I'm not really feeling it.

EDIT: It sounds a bit better today but this is still another case of a supergroup not living up to the expectations.
