An important characteristic of any Neurosis influenced band seems to be the abysmal contrast between aggressiveness and smooth atmosphere. Somehow it is quite a challenge to find this degree of opposite musical natures in such balance outside the Sludge jurisdiction. Salvation is perhaps one of the most suitable examples, belonging to a extreme metal band well-known for its dedication to atmosphere.

My first post-metal album and still my favorite one.

This one is in the middle for me when talking Cult Of Luna. The first two I like more than this but I like this more than Eternal Kingdom. However, Somewhere Along The Highway is in a class by itself.

This band is really starting to grow on me. I'm not quite as into this as much as Somewhere Along The Highway but it's still a great post-metal record. The instrumentation is so captivating, and the way that some of these tracks build-up is breathtaking.
