Ever wondered what would happen if you crossed the symphonies of Nightwish with a brutal death metal style? Well here's your answer; Fleshgod Apocalypse have gone from being one of the best underground death metal bands to one of the most over the top, symphonic and flamboyant death metal bands there are.

Clean vocals are great, but that isn't enough to make this awesome.

Super dense, shitty production job, but otherwise quite enjoyable. The symphonic arrangements are really good and despite complaints, I think that the way that they are so chaotically tossed with the other instruments is what makes this group stand out from other symphonic death acts.

Stellar! Brutal, intense, and very head-bang-able. Highly recommended.

"The Quaker"
Coming back to this record after a 2 year absence (I still wonder how I could stop listening to it) and with more production/mix oriented mindset I totally get people who bash it based on "lack of melody" or the production.

With proper headphones it's almost as if the guitars lines are a lot more interesting than I could ever hear them as, but often they were either not double-tracked or their volumes were lowered under the symphony and the drums - I guess on purpose, it's a way to keep the listener's focus on what's important with preserving both the differences in instruments and the composition - however, it's a method that didn't quite sit well with a lot of people. The result here is halfway between symphonic metal and death metal. It worked for me and still does though...

One thing for sure, they definitely went for an "in the face" sound and they achieved that.

I am just realizing now that after all this time, I have never liked any Fleshgod on my spotify account.

Fixing that immediately.
