We, the Damned is a very bleak, miserable form of atmospheric black metal with depressive undertones, entirely composed, recorded, and produced by mainman Yuri Theuns - with the exception of a mesmerizing guitar solo on the opening track. One glance at the enticing cover art (he's also responsible for that) will quickly tell you what you're in for. You're going to feel more alone than ever before.

Wilds Forlorn's interesting take on the atmospheric black metal formula instantly managed to capture me and with We, the Damned, the bands music evolves further. The most notable change is that the production is much better this time around compared to the debut which makes it easier to lose yourself in the music presented.

The symphonic element that the keyboard provides, rather prevalently throughout the album, is a nice detail which adds some intensity to the dismal atmosphere and I never thought it got too much. I also like the doom influences on the second track that really underlines how brilliant this guy is at putting a lot of emotion into his music in different ways. Speaking of which, I need to mention the piano that plays an important part in the creation of a mournful beauty amidst all the pain and sorrrow. Really great album.

Hovering between a 6 and a 7 for this. I know it's good, but it doesn't capture my attention like it should.
