Creating good music might not be an easy task, but most bands in existence consist of multiple members who contribute to the music. One-man bands however are simply musicians who create the music all by themselves, which, in my opinion, is very impressive. Because of the fact that there are quite a few of these talented musicians, I created this list. Of course there are many more one-man band albums than I have listed here and that's why I'm open to suggestions. So be sure to give me recommendations and also let me know if I listed the "wrong" album by a band (in your opinion). Lastly, the list is ranked according to genre and then alphabetically. I only add 1 (full-length) album per band (and only albums that are featured on MS).

Just thought I'd come back to this list and recommend Zemial for you. Good Greek project, kinda like blackened thrash, but with a progressive atmosphere that makes things really epic and interesting too. Definitely worth checking out

Thanks for the recommendation. Will check it out soon and add it if I like it. In any case, it seems like really interesting stuff, seeing the way you describe it.

I already added them before, but deleted them because I wanted to add another album. I think it was Edge of Sanity - Crimson II. I totally forgot about that album being a one-man band album so then immediately added it. I only add 5 albums at a time, so expect Alrakis to be added on the next update.

Okay, relatively big update this time, as I have ranked the albums according to genre, just like I did with my debut album list last weekend. Of course lots of black metal in here, but that is even obvious without this ranking. If you have any suggestions (preferably NOT black metal, as there's plenty of it already) then let me know.

You can try these if you want: 0N0, Igric
Two very good one man bands from Slovakia. Second one is black metal though.

What's the difference between avant-garde and experimental?
I've seen Botanist labeled as avant-garde, also have seen Gnaw their Tongues as experimental =P

Don't worry about recommending BM, but I just like to create more variety (as there's a lot of BM in this list).

And I'm afraid I can't add your suggestions, because they aren't featured on MS. I changed the description, so it's clear now that I only add MS albums. I'll gladly add suggestions of yours if they're featured here on MS.

Well, there's a very thin line between those two genres I'd say. I think avantgarde is experimental as well although more of a style than experimental music is. Just like progressive music is less experimental than avantgarde (not entirely sure about this though). I also tend to view progressive metal more as a style than truly progressive music. Btw, I also had Gnaw Their Tongues labelled as "experimental" but Joe said they're more avantgarde. Normally I'd decide for myself, but he knows the music way better (I think) so I trust him on this one. Not too sure about Botanist though... listened to it and it sounded pretty damn experimental to me.

Thanks! I will check it out. However, I didn't like the debut, so I hope it isn't very similar to that one.

Don't worry about it, I'll still check it out. The problem however is that I've lost interest a bit in most, if not all, of my lists which means updating them is going rather slow.

Add Neurotech maybe? It has guest vocals, but so does Lascaille's Shroud.

Last time I updated this list was in 2013 I think, so months ago. I got a little tired of lists but when (if?) that is over I'll update it again and (might) add your suggestion.

What? Why?

Well, that's what I do in all of my lists. Bad excuse, I know, but not going to change it now. To be honest I don't have the time, nor need, anymore to bother a lot with my lists. Most of the time I spent on them was when I was a student, which translates to: a lot more free time.

That being said, none of my lists are truly "dead". It's just that I don't update them regurlarly anymore.

Yeah, I guess you could say that. Not sure why, though. Then again, like I said I might still update some of my lists. Just not as much as I used to.

Edit: now that I think about it, it might be because I could update most of my lists, but don't really know where to start (and it would take a lot of time), and therefore I don't bother with updating any of them. If that makes sense.

Makes sense. I got tired of doing all the db edits myself as well, kind of a time thing for me too, I've got minions now (some people might call them bitches; Bad English and nicaZe).

Edgar probably adds the most news to MS out of everyone here. Never heard of "nicaZe" though.

He probably also does the most db work out of everyone too, potentially second to nicaZe. nicaZe is my newest recruit/promotee to Db Contributor.

You're doing well with the recruits. Oh yeah, I have seen that guy on Facebook some where. Probably one of Edgar's (many) online friends. Seriously though, why isn't Edgar a Contributor?

No, he's not in Edgar's friend list, he is in mine though, but I won't divulge his name cuz I'm not entirely sure he wants it to be known. And Edgar will likely never be anything but a user simply because of his reputation among older Staff.

It's understandable you won't name him here. Can't say I know what you're referring to with Edgar's reputation, but I always assumed he's not staff/contributor due to his bad English proficiency.

By the way, Sinira's The Everlorn is also made by just one guy. I highly recommend it if you like melodic black metal
