Their sample song wasn't great, but they're sure to be Cannibal Corpse yet again: meaning they'll throw a shitload of quality riffs at us, O'Brien and Webster are just relentlessly talented song-writers, and we'll get a bunch of new musical ideas to digest for a good while.
They haven't made a bad album since their rise yet, and even Torture, which many wanted to finally be their stale end of a cycle album, had a ton of hooks and new Cannibal Corpse concepts. I don't see why this one would be disappointing.

You know what? I've heard worse.

It's not as strong as Torture but it's still solid, not too generic.

Yep, this is actually a pretty good death metal album. Crazy how these guys can still come up with good tunes.

CC was always capable of writing some awesome songs. All their albums contained some (2-5 usually) astonishing songs and many others of a decent level... In my eyes this has stopped since Torture. Evisceration Plague was the last album of theirs containing great songs and their latest 2 are only left with the decent filler songs... "Uninspired" is the word...

Nah, it's more like they've actually started writing good quality material since Torture. All albums that came after the Bleeding and before Torture were incredibly uninspired, as you put it (though Kill was more decent than the rest).

...And obviously the same basic principle of taste applies here as well, because Torture and ASD is better than anything since The Bleeding (and before it, really).

'Tis a vicious cycle.

so, what is it that makes those last 2 albums better that the others??

Uh, I don't know, maybe... quality over quantity? Instead of there being one or two good songs among all the filler like on albums released in the 00s, These two can be more appreciated with full album-length listens as there are more good, quality songs.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about why they're good; they're just good, and that's good enough for me. I'm out.

A very good album but dried up in second half. Some songs kicks in intensity pedal to the level where you can think "well, this has surpassed the last disc easily and have shown some rad moments of The Bleeding or Gore Obessed" and then onto other song where pounding becomes patchy, weak and repetitive. One side you're just having an awesome time with Corpse but on the other side you're disappointing of "yeah, yeah just another Cannibal Corpse" record. 7.5 punched in for Domain.

Well, Alex work has once again impressed with his superb bass skills. He's phenomenal.

Dude, I'm listening to this now and surprised more people aren't talking about it. Sure, it's another death metal album and the genre has gotten pretty tired, but I can't remember the last time a pure DM album really gripped me with every single song. People will argue that this is probably a more accessible release, but I don't care. It's pretty damn wicked.

A Skeletal Domain: the best song along with Sadistic Embodiment and Icepick Lobotomy. Almost all the other songs are between decent and bad (High Velocity Impact Spatter-one of the most boring they ever wrote imo)...

Not a bad album but certainly not their best either, the drumming is fantastic, the bass and technical solo's are pretty good too, but the riffs aren't anything special though imo, and Corpsegrinder's vocals are kind of run of the mill on this one. The songwriting was pretty generic too tbh.

Not many songs really stand out for me, but the one's I would say did are the title track , "Murderous Pact" and "Hollowed Bodies".
