^Indeed. I love later Moonsorrow because of its bmness approach to folk metal. I feel like a lot of people here judge them based on the earlier albums which were generic af, but from 2005 onwards Moonsorrow is one of my favs

Listening to this for the first time in a while during the long drought before a new Moonsorrow album. It's been years since I listened to the cover songs on this one and considering they did two covers on Tulimyrsky too I kind of wish they did an album of cover songs at some point during the last few years. They always put a good spin on the original while recreating it in their huge layered sound, so a cover album in place of something new (or rather nothing) would have been fun.

Does anyone know what makes that "poing poing" sound during the intro to "Jumalten Aika" and during parts of other songs, like around two minutes into "Suden Tunti"?

Written by Zap on 23.08.2024 at 16:18 That's a munniharppu, a Finnish jaw harp, and Henri Sorvali plays it. The booklet of the mediabook says that it's a mouth harp, which is not a very accurate translation, because it's often equated with a mouth organ, which is a completely different instrument.
