Metal Inquisitor was founded in 1997 by Blumi. Shortly thereafter, the band was then completed by drummer Witchhammer ("Tormentor" by Desaster), singer El Rojo and bassist KronoS. You immediately started writing your own pieces in classic metal style. The result was a demo with three songs the following year and a year later the single "Seven Inches for the Second Attack". In 2000 Witchhammer left the band. Since the decision was made to play with two guitarists in the future, they included TP (guitar) and Havoc (drums) in the band, who already played in the original and common cover project "The Left Rhine Happy Natures".
Together with the new band members took in 2002, the first album. Under the name "The Apparition" the debut album appeared on Iron Glory Records. After getting mostly positive reviews for the album, they went on to the "The Apparition Tour 2002/2003". In 2004, he performed at well-known festivals such as the Rock Hard and the Keep It True Festival. Despite the slowly gaining in popularity troupe Iron Glory Records announced the record deal. In the spring of 2005 one could find a new record company with Hellion Records and in November 2005 the second album "Doomsday for the Heretic" will be released. This time the reviews were effusive and the band received a lot of support, especially from Rock Hard magazine. In the late summer of 2006, KronoS went its own way for private reasons. He was replaced by Dutch G, with which one then worked on the third album. At the beginning of 2008 KronoS returned to the band again. In addition, the band officially celebrated their 10th anniversary in March 2008.
In October 2010 KronoS could not be there for health reasons and was replaced by Cliff Bubenheim on bass. In November 2010, the third album "Unconditional Absolution", which was still recorded with KronoS on the bass and immediately winner of the Richter scale in the Rock Hard issue 12/2010 was released. For the year 2011 the band had several appearances at relevant German festivals (Rock Hard Festival, Headbangers Open Air, Bang Your Head etc.).
