Biography
Resolution15 is a band whose sound is rooted in thrash, metal, hardcore, punk, and classical music that uses violins in place of guitars to disseminate their egalitarian message of global change.
Formed in 2007, Resolution15 released their self-titled debut and quickly became a fixture in the New York metal scene.
The EP Satyagraha was then released in April 2010 with Corey Unger (guitarist of the seminal New England metalcore band Blood Has Been Shed) as producer.
Res15 next joined forces with the incomparable Ryan Kelly (Opeth, Winds of Plague, Jay-Z, Matsiyahu, Beyonce, etc.) in the spring of 2011 for the "Svaha Sessions." This series of single tracks aimed to capture the raw energy of a live performance by going live to tape to minimize edits and any unnecessary studio wizardry. The first of these, Yama, was self-released on May 10, 2011.
After releasing three more singles over the course of the following six months, including the groundbreaking rendition of the classic U2 anthem "Sunday Bloody Sunday," Resolution15 began pre-production for what would ultimately become a compilation of the previously released tracks from the Svaha Sessions, as well as four more previously unreleased tracks with NYC producer Stacy O'Dell (Panzie, Killcode, The Vansaders).
The upcoming full-length album, entitled "Svaha," is due for release to the general public on January 15, 2013.
This is what Metal Edge had to say about them. "...violins have been attached to folk metal and other oblong versions of what you might consider to be metal, but what was being belted out onstage was nowhere near folk, chamber music or anything along those lines. This [Resolution15] is thrash. This is loud. This is a kick in the fucking face."
However, there is no reason to blindly accept someone else's perceptions, no matter how grateful the band is to have that quote. Resolution15 feels that you should come see with your own eyes, hear with your own ears; just come to a show and make up your own fucking mind. Thank you and have a nice day.
