Biography

Cauldron Born was formed in the winter of 1994 by guitarist/lyricist Howie Bentley. Cauldron Born has a grim, but heroic sound with hook laden songs. Add to that Howie's Robert E. Howard inspired epic sword and sorcery lyrics along with top notch musicianship and you have the ultimate Heavy Metal band.

Cauldron Born's music was inspired by bands like Iron Maiden, Dio-era Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Early Fate's Warning, Candlemass, Coroner and Venom.

In addition to Robert E. Howard, some other authors who have inspired Howie's lyrics are H.P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Richard L. Tierney, Karl Edward Wagner, Michael Moorcock and David C. Smith.

Cauldron Born recorded their first demo, "Swords, Sorcery, and Science" in early 1994. The band line-up was Howie Bentley on guitars, Shawn Kascak on bass, Bill Parsons on drums and Christian Schulze on vocals.

"Swords, Sorcery, and Science" immediately caught the attention of the metal underground with Greek and German fanzines proclaiming Cauldron Born to be the Best Epic Heavy Metal Band In The World." After the demo was finished Christian Schulze left the band. In the meantime, Cauldron Born was being contacted by a number of labels who were interested in bands with a pure metal sound. Howie Bentley chose the European metal label, Underground Symphony based in Italy.

With new vocalist Danny White, they recorded their debut album "Born Of The Cauldron" in the fall of 1996 and released it in 1997.

Receiving praise from fans all around the world and due to fan request the early demo material from Howie Bentley's first project "Beyond The Shade Gates" was released along with their first demo "Swords, Sorcery, and Science" as a collection entitled "God Of Metal". By this time, Danny White had left the band.

Cauldron Born arose from the ashes with new vocalist David Louden to record their third and final album, "...And Rome Shall Fall". David was a session vocalist and could not commit to live performances with the band due to family and business obligations.

Cauldron Born added another vocalist to the list, Zane Matthews who joined the band just before 2001 Classic Metal Festival. With Zane on vocals the band played several gigs and a handful of festivals before Howie disbanded Cauldron Born in 2003.
