Biography
The artistic book of Tregor Malphas Russo has been opened in the winter of 1995, by the will of his sinister soul. In the beginning of 1996,born his first solo project SORTILEGIUM and he recorded his first demo called "Divina Morte" in the autumn at the same year, playing all the instruments, melting classic doom death metal influenced by Candlemass and the brutal death metal scene in typical Floridian style, and published in two hundred copies for fanzine, magazines, radio stations and labels only.
In the meanwhile Tregor keeps on trying out and composing all music and lyrics innovating a new kind of music and for the first time, he recruits other players to record a new promo cd, always under the monicker of SORTILEGIUM, called "Mcmxcix" (1999), at Riff Raff Studio in Marsala ( Sicily). This promo cd marks a turning point with songs melting symphonic, new age, gothic, progressive, groove, doom and death metal, trying to give new lymph to metal scene� The first split cd from SORTILEGIUM was released on Christmas 2001 by Coffin Productions.
Recorded at Riff Raff Studio in Marsala ( Sicily), it's entitled "Requiem Aeternam" and the other band featured is a death/thrash metal mid tempos outfit called INNER HELL, who Tregor himself joined as a multi-instrumentalist, after the other musicians leaved the band. The "Requiem Aeternam" Opera is a litanic concept album, divided in 5 chapters and it shows the world the new unique musical innovation of Tregor. Inspired by the concept of Angels and Tregor's obscure and mournful vision, exalting the darken majesty of SORTILEGIUM. The songs blend together classical music, avantgarde, dark wave, progressive, power, gothic, epic, symphonic doom death metal, Gregorian choirs and Soprano singing, the result enriched by Tregor's lead guitar playing all technical virtuosity, giving birth to Horror Metal Opera.
The Album has been written, composed, created and played by Tregor in it's entirety. !!! The reaction of both fans and media are positively around the World. After some live appearances at Metal Festivals and other concerts in Italy, with his soloist band SORTILEGIUM, from the winter 2004 to the spring 2005, Tregor, during the studies of specialization near an academy of the music to Palermo ( Italy),
In 2009 he resumed his first band SORTILEGIUM and after he recruits a new singer (Ignazio Conticello) bassist (Paolo Spinella) and drummer (Davide Norrito) for his SORTILEGIUM, he begins to create a concept album, both musical and lyrics, on a fact really happened. So he completed the new innovative compositions for the first album of the band. In the December 2009.Tregor enter to Roxy Studio in Palermo (Italy) to record the new promo Ep, where he performed: classical guitar, leads and rhythms 7-string guitars, bass and keyboards. In January 2010 the new promo Ep of the band is out! It's entitled "Unholy Land - promo 2010", with new four tracks (the fourth is instrumental), giving at his band new elements like fusion, jazz and baroque music, melting mid tempos - technical brutal death metal. All the new work is based on the unique composition style of Tregor, characterized by complicate guitar virtuosity and intricate arrangements .
