Ashes Of Ares, the new band featuring Matt Barlow (ex-Iced Earth), Van Williams (ex-Nevermore) and Freddie Vidales (ex-Iced Earth), have completed work on their debut album to be released later this summer via Nuclear Blast Records. It seems like they abandoned their retirement plans as the band announced last year that they were working on unfinished songs from the early 80s, leftovers from the Blackout album and Love At First Sting. The quintet has worked on a dozen tracks with producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson for an album that is tentatively scheduled for release later this year.

Soulfly just announced that they left their longtime home of Roadrunner Records and inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a new division of Nuclear Blast formed by Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger and former Roadrunner A&R chief Monte Conner. Soulfly will enter the studio this month to begin recording their yet-untitled ninth studio album. The record will be produced by Terry Date, who is known for his work with such bands as Pantera, Deftones and Soundgarden, among many others. You can expect a release tentatively in the fall of this year.
