Legion Of The Damned - Former Bassist Commits Suicide
According to a posting on the band's website, former bassist of Dutch thrashers Legion Of The Damned Twan Fleuren has committed suicide.
Twan joined the band Occult in 1998 where he directly joined them on a tour with Morbid Angel, Amon Amarth and Gorgoroth in 1999, after the recording of Occult's Rage to Revenge in 2001 and 2 great tours with Dark Funeral in 2001 and Exodus, Nuclear Assault and Agent Steel in 2003, Twan Fleuren was also at the beginning of the succes of Legion of the Damned and recorded with the band the legendary Elegy for the Weak with Andy Classen in 2003 that was later re-released under the name Feel the Blade in 2007, as well as the recording of Malevolent Rapture in 2004, which was released in 2006, the album that brought Legion of the Damned to a level where they are in right now.
Twan Fleuren was also part of the first Legion of the Damned tour that took place in 2006 with no one less than Kataklysm and Cannibal Corpse, however, Twan left the band half way the tour because his, at that time, baby born son was hospitalized, the band then agreed that it would be better for Twan to leave the band because doing the band and having its family was to complicated at that point, he was then replaced by bassplayer Harold Gielen in 2006.
About Twan's loss singer Maurice states: "Another very sad day in the Legion camp, Twan has been a great friend and we lost contact for several years because he was in some difficult times, only a few weeks back we were all back in contact again and it felt like these great old times were about to return, even Erik and me joined him on a terrace for a beer or 2 a few weeks ago, he even wanted to join us to With Full Force in July, where I was really looking forward to, he even showed alot of intrest in our new guitarplayer and the departure of Richard Ebisch. The bad news that came in today struck as a bomb not for me only personally but also for the band Legion of the Damned.
Of course we wish his family and kids all the strength they need in this process. We will miss you brother and of course all of the upcoming Legion of the Damned shows will be dedicated in his name!"
Drummer Erik announced following: "Yet another sad day in the history of Legion of the Damned. We knew that Twan had to face some extreme difficult times, but we certainly did not expect this, he was about to join us at some upcoming festivals and we were really looking forward to that. Maurice and I are happy that we still had a nice chat and drink with him at a terrace not so long ago after a really long time of not seeing each other, rest in peace my friend and my sincere condolences to his family"

Circus Maximus - Update From The Band
Norwegian metallers Circus Maximus have issued the following update on their official website:
"As many of you have been wondering, what has been, or is going on in the Circus Maximus camp these days? What is the status on the recording on the new album? Well... To give you the short and brutal version, here is where we are today:
After finishing the drum tracks in November, the band took the Christmas holidays off, presuming to start up right over new years with drum editing, and continue with guitar, bass, keys and vocals right after that. What we didn't plan out as a result of Mats' grueling long hours in front of the computer, editing drums, was that he got arm inflammation in both arms. Because of this, both the drum editing (that was over half ways finished), and upcoming rhythm guitar tracking had to be postponed until further notice. With this, and other personal/family stuff that had to be dealt with, the recording process stagnated quite a bit.
On a positive note: Mats' arm injury has improved a great deal, and the drum-editing is finished, the band has been rehearsing for their upcoming shows in May and we are filming more for the 'Rockumentary' this weekend up in the mountains of Trysi (Guess there will be more drunken madness than interviews, because it's Mikey's birthday as well).
We are glad to tell you all that things are looking better nowadays with the speed bumps and hickups out of the way, and that we will be putting the 'pedal to the metal' on the recordings from mid May. Circus Maximus is truly grateful for all the support that has been shown, as well as your patience and understanding. There wouldn't be a Circus Maximus without you, the fans. That makes you a little Circus Maximus too... hehe."

Nevermore - Jeff Loomis And Van Williams Leave The Band
Guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have announced their departure from Seattle-based progressive thrashers Nevermore. The following announcement was posted on the band's Myspace page:
"In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time."
Loomis and Williams had been with Nevermore since the band's first album, the self-titled Nevermore from 1995. Nevermore recently announced that they would be cancelling their planned tour with Symphony X. No information regarding additional confirmed tour dates is known at this time.

Omen - Sign With DSN Music
Official press release
The legendary hard rock and heavy metal group Omen has signed an exclusive digital distribution deal with DSN Music, featuring their latest release Hammer Damage. The new album will be the 11th from the veteran rockers, who consist of Matt Story on vocals, guitarist and founder Kenny Powell, bassist Andy Haas, and Wampa on drums.
"We are extremely excited about signing with DSN Music" said Omen's Kenny Powell. "This release will be a ride straight into the glory days of Metal, no compromises, take no prisoners!"
Omen was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983, by lead guitarist Kenny Powell; previously with the rock group Savage Grace and signed on with Metal Blade Records in 1984, and released their debut album Battle Cry. In 1985 the second album Warning Of Danger followed, building up Omen's reputation as one of the forefathers of power metal acts, such as Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer. In 1986, Omen's successes lead to the release of the blockbuster album The Curse on Capital Records. The hit single Thorn In Your Flesh from their release Escape To Nowhere topped the metal charts in 1985.
Omen continued releasing an incredible collection of heavy metal masterpieces over the years, as well as building a loyal fan base via successful worldwide tours.
"We are pumped to have Omen join the DSN family" said DSN Music President Guy Giuliano. "Omen was one of the pioneers of the power metal genre and we're proud to give them a global platform for their latest offerings."
Omen enjoyed national broadcast airplay from the famed rock radio network Z-Rock, thanks to the devotion of high profile jocks like Madd Maxx Hammer, Wild Bill Scott, and Jason Lee Tipton. "Omen's "Thorn In Your Flesh" was getting a lot of airplay and their sound created a lot of excitement and generated great phones!" said Tipton. Records sales soared in markets where the Z-Rock network was carried, fueling a national following for the group.
"We are seeing a new generation of rockers worldwide discovering Omen via digital technology and other forms of entertainment media" said Giuliano. Omen's classic single The Axeman from their debut release Battle Cry was recently featured on the soundtrack for the heavy metal themed video game "Brütal Legend".
Omen's Hammer Damage is scheduled for a summer release and will be available via online and mobile stores such as Amazon.com, iTunes, Rhapsody.com, Verizon, and hundreds more worldwide.

Communic - New Album Details
Official press release
The Norwegian metallers from Communic are back with their new album The Bottom Deep which is simply breath-taking! The music of the exceptional band from Norway includes many elements from various metal genres. Their grasp for variety of power, melody, and intelligent lyrics with a highly progressive musical approach made Communic one of the best newcomers for years! If you like progressiv metal, there is no way without Communic!
Now, the band announced the tracklist and the artwork of the upcoming album:
01. Facing Tomorrow
02. Denial
03. Flood River Blood
04. Voyage Of Discovery
05. In Silence With My Scars
06. My Fallen
07. Destroyer Of Bloodlines
08. Wayward Soul
09. The Bottom Deep
10. Bonus Track: In Union We Stand
Guitarist and band mastermind Oddleif Stensland commented the new stuff: "Writing and recording this album has been an amazing - but strange experience. This time we took control over the production ourself, resulting in a more honest and organic sounding album. Never before have I put so much of my own personal influence and privacy into the lyrics and songs as this time. Right now I have a mixed feeling of fear and total excitement as we release the artwork and track listing for this new album. Now there is no return. To open myself this way, exposing my deepest and inner thoughts, in a way I have never done before. Its kinda strange, as it feels like these words and songs came from a part of me that I didn't know about. This is The Bottom Deep. This is the album that I never in my life thought I had to write - but now I know, this will be a totem in my life - forever!"
Dan Swanö did the mastering on this album, he said: "It was pure pleasure to work with these guys. The mix was excellent to start with, so I finally had the opportunity to work with gentle strokes rather than the big roller that I sometimes have to use to shape-up not-so-good mixes. Musically I enjoyed it very much. It's not easy to label their music (which is good). If I had to mention something, I get that amazing "epic" vibe of Queensrÿche 84-88. They definitely add something to the family of progressive metal"
Eliran Kantor made the artwork for the album: "The first draft of the lyrics from Oddleif made it clear that this is going to be a very personal, dark and vulnerable record - and I wanted the cover to reflect that. The vulture, nature's version of the grim reaper, caresses the dying man, casting a shadow reveling its true intentions and reason for this last visit. I put alot of myself into this artwork, and I think it turned out great"
