Insomnium - Confirm Album Release Dates, Euro Tour With Before The Dawn

Official press release

Finland is an evocative land. The very mention of it conjures visions of endless darkness, long, cold wintry nights and an almost oppressive bleakness. It is within this icy cauldron that the soul of Insomnium was borne.

Their music is as epic as it is melodic, as melancholic as it is majestic and as brutal as it is beautiful. To call Insomnium a Death Metal band is to do them a grave disservice. The upcoming album One For Sorrow is such an amalgamation of styles that pigeonholing them into a single category would be to rob the band of its true complexity and ignore the very essence of its sound.

Recalling art-metal titans Cult Of Luna at one turn and brutal visionaries Amon Amarth at others, One For Sorrow displays the true musical breadth of a band that has clearly come into its own on this, their debut album for Century Media. One For Sorrow will be released on October 12th in Finland, October 17th in the rest of Europe and October 18th in North America.

Guitarist Ville Friman comments on the album title: "The name One For Sorrow comes from a traditional children's nursery rhyme. There are ten different scenarios in the original rhyme; likewise there are ten different songs and stories on our album. I think One For Sorrow truly depicts what this album is all about: bereavement, grief and loss."

Right after the album's release Insomnium will tour Europe. Ville Friman comments: "We are very exited to finally do a headline tour for the first time in our career. This is a really big step for us and we will definitely bring our A-game. The new songs absolutely kill and we can't wait to play them live! It's also great to share this opportunity with two great Finnish bands Before The Dawn and MyGrain. Don't miss the fun and consider your livers warned: hangover unavoidable."

Vocalist Niilo Sevänen continues: "One For Sorrow is a truly epic album and the tour will surely be immense! We get to visit many of our favorite cities and meet the fans who have long waited for Insomnium headlining show. From London to Ljubljana we are looking forward to see you all!"

One For Sorrow European Tour 2011:

14.11 - Holland, Rotterdam - Baroeg
15.11 - UK, London - Underworld
16.11 - Belgium, Antwerpen - Trix
17.11 - Switzerland, Aarau - Kiff
18.11 - Slovenia, Ljubljana - Gala Hala
19.11 - Austria, Wien - Arena
20.11 - Czech Rep, Prague - Exit Chmelnice
21.11 - Germany, München - Feierwerk

Testament - Reveal New Album Title, N. American Touring Plans

San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans Testament have set The Dark Roots Of Earth as the title of their new album, tentatively due in October via Nuclear Blast Records.

The CD is currently being recorded with British producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with Megadeth, Exodus, Nevermore, among others.

Due to a "serious injury" being suffered by drummer Paul Bostaph, Testament have enlisted the services of Gene Hoglan (Fear Factory, ex-Strapping Young Lad) to handle the studio drumming for their new album. In addition to Hoglan, Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler will appear on "a couple of bonus tracks."

Bostaph will rejoin Testament at a later date for touring duties. In the meantime, Sadus drummer Jon Allen sat behind the kit for Testament when the band performed in the place of In Flames at the first two shows of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival last weekend.

In other news, Testament vocalist Chuck Billy revealed more details regarding the band's upcoming North American trek, taking place later this year. Here's what he said to say on the upcoming tour in support of The Dark Roots Of Earth to California radio station 107.7 The Bone:

"We plan to tour. It's gonna be October/November. I think it's OK to say, it's gonna be Anthrax, Death Angel and Overkill. So that'll be in America. That'll be probably a five- or six-week tour in America. It would be good to have record out with that . But if , we'll have something out we'll be promoting with that tour."

Cerebral Bore - Members Mistakenly Arrested In Drug Store Killer Hunt

The following cool story was brought to you by the chaps in Scottish brutal death metal act Cerebral Bore.

Two members of Cerebral Bore were mistakenly arrested in New York City recently amidst the hunt for a man who murdered a number of people at a drug store.

The band had been out celebrating the end of their tour when guitarist Paul McGuire and bassist Kyle Rutherford went to a drug store in the early morning hours. Although the store's doors were open and the lights were on, it appeared that it was not officially open for business as an alarm went off, so the band members left and went to another store down the road. As they were leaving, a number of NYPD squad cars surrounded them and they were thrown to the ground by police officers and arrested at gunpoint. The two were charged with criminal trespass, petit larceny, burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.

The pair spent the next 36 hours being moved between crowded jail cells and witnessing violence and intimidation from the other inmates. The real drug store killer was later arrested and, following a court appearance, all charges were dropped and the members of Cerebral Bore were eventually released.

Watch a video of McGuire and Rutherfor discussing their harrowing experience below.

Eluveitie - To Start Their Own Festival

Swiss Celtic folk metal act Eluveitie just announced the first edition of their very own festival, called Eluveitie & Friends. The festival takes place on December 30th at Volkshaus in Zürich, Switzerland.

The Eluveitie & Friends line-up look as follows: Eluveitie, Coroner, Korpiklaani, Excelsis, Blutmond and one more special guest to be announced.

Tickets are available at this location.

Comments the band: "After a long planning period we can finally announce the first edition of our very own festival for the end of this year: Eluveitie & Friends!

We will take this opportunity to introduce some well-know as well as newcomer bands that we have some kind of connection with and that of course we appreciate musically.

Blutmond will be joined by Anna Murphy on guest vocals, while Excelsis should be known to pretty much any Eluveitie fan in Switzerland by now. Münggu and his fellow warriors will surely put you in the right mood immediately! Following a special guest that will be announced at a later time, Korpiklaani will take the stage, and that those guys know how to rock the house we have seen ourselves plenty of times as we have shared a tourbus on many occasions during the past years.

We are however particularly proud to be able to present the thrash legends Coroner. After a break of 16 years the Swiss metal pioneers have reunited to show the metal community once more how it's done. Coroner guitarist Tommy Vetterli has also produced our latest album Everything Remains at his Newsound Studios and has since been considered a friend of ours.

Last but not least this will be our very last chance in 2011 to kick your asses, and really, what better way could there be to end the year?"

Anthrax - Album Cover Artwork Revealed

Anthrax has revealed the cover artwork for its long-overdue new full-length album, Worship Music.

The original painting for the cover was created by renowned comic book artist Alex Ross, who has worked with Marvel Comics and DC Comics and is known for his "Marvels", "Kingdom Come", and "Astro City" illustrations. Iced Earth mainman Jon Schaffer issued the following update: "All is well here as we are pushing forward with master tracking the new album Dystopia. We have finished drums and rhythm guitars and are right on schedule.

I'll be heading to Europe tomorrow for a few festival dates and then right back to work in the studio on Monday. Jim Morris and I are having a great time, as usual, and are very much looking forward to starting vocal tracks with "Stucifer" next week!

Stu Block has contributed a lot to the vocal parts on this record, with co-writing credits on 10 out of 12 songs, and I'm very happy with our chemistry and what we've accomplished together so far. And we're just getting started."

Impiety - Part Ways With Drummer

Singaporean death thrash metal band Impiety are parting ways with drummer Atum (ex-Malfeitor, ex-Tundra) who only joined the band late last year.

Here's the word from the band: Original vocalist/guitarist Shyaithan and the rest of Impiety announce a line-up shuffle this year, and this done so that logistically it may prove better for the band and it's continuous progress to wreak more chaos and carnage across this godforsaken globe, one we all call Planet Earth. It was never an easy decision to let Atum go but after much consideration it had to be done.

Here is Atum's closing statement: "After 10 months of hard work, worldwide touring and skullfucking recordings, i'm here to communicate my departure from Impiety. The recent events made me and Shyaithan come to the conclusion that our musical paths are taking different directions, so we decided to split in order to maintain a good friendship and keep in contact to support each other's career, which we are already doing. I'll keep working restlessly with Music as always, we're just done recording the new album with Divine Codex so stay true and keep supporting true Music."

Impiety extends its gratification to this brilliant drummer and thanks Atum for the greatest of times spent together rehearsing, recording as well as executing 10 hellish concerts together. Irreplaceable would be these greatest memories and achievements of Atum in Impiety and it shall continue to live on. "We wish Atum every success with his main band Divine Codex and all future projects/bands he will work with. Despite different career paths now, we shall remain in close contact and support his every effort and endeavour being one of the best drummers and greatest komrade we've known. ALL HAIL ATUM!"

Shyaithan has auditioned and finally recruited a full time drummer and will announce him shortly.
