Spawn Of Possession - Sign With Relapse Records

Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Swedish technical death metallers Spawn Of Possession. The band is currently writing for its Relapse debut and long-awaited follow-up to Noctambulant to be released this fall.

Spawn Of Possession guitarist Jonas Bryssling commented on the signing and upcoming release: "We are very exited to have become part of the Relapse family and their amazing roster. The new album will contain nine tracks plus an instrumental intro which we'll be recording throughout the summer starting in June. Once again we'll be teaming up with producer Mankan Sedenberg at Pama Studios in Sweden.

Right now we're prepping the recording and straightening out the last details of the material. More good news is on the way so keep your eyes open for a brand new Spawn of Possession website which will be launched soon. As usual we like to keep what is coming under wraps, but rest assured this record will be quite a slab of imaginative brutality for you guys to sink your teeth into."

Lock Up - Jeff Walker And Peter Tägtgren To Guest On New Album

Necropolis Transparent, the new upcoming album of UK grinders Lock Up, will feature guest appearances from Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) and Jeff Walker (Carcass, Brujeria). Necropolis Transparent will be released in Europe on July 1st and in North America on July 12th through Nuclear Blast Records.

Comments bassist Shane Embury: "I always wanted Peter on the third album since he was on the first record we did. It made sense from a weird trilogy aspect to get him on the record. His tones compliment Tomas perfectly as well. I would have loved to have had Peter sing on more of the songs, but time was short as Peter was heavily involved with his new Pain record. The songs he did sing on though made them extra special.

As for Jeff, well me and Jeff go so far back it's unreal. We were mixing the album at Andy Sneap's and I wanted an extra vocal texture on a few tracks to spice it up. My voice is more hardcore and I wanted some extra gravel on things. It all seemed to make sense to Jeff once I had bribed him with a 12 pack of his favorite beer (laughs)!"

Hypocrisy main man Peter Tägtgren comments: "It's great that Lock Up is back in the saddle again and that I could be apart of it. This album will tear you a new asshole!"

Carcass vocalist Jeff Walker fills in: "I think it's pretty fair to say that the current incarnation of Lock Up have done the late Jesse Pintado more than proud!"

Necropolis Transparent tracklist:

01. Brethren Of The Pentagram
02. Accelerated Mutation
03. The Embodiment Of Paradox And Chaos
04. Necropolis Transparent
05. Parasite Drama
06. Anvil Of Flesh
07. Rage Incarnate Reborn
08. Unseen Enemy
09. Stygian Reverberations
10. Life Of Devastation
11. Roar Of A Thousand Throats
12. Infiltrate And Destroy
13. Discharge The Fear
14. Vomiting Evil
15. Stigmatyr
16. Through The Eyes Of My Shadow Self (Tomas Lindberg & Peter Tägtgren share vocal duties)
17. Tartarus

Heidevolk - Guitarist Is Leaving The Band

Sebas Bloeddorst, guitarist and founding member of the Dutch folk metallers Heidevolk, has announced he's parting ways with the band in autumn this year.

He issued the following goodbye statement: "After 9 years I have decided to leave the band Heidevolk. When I founded the band in 2002 I have done this to, as an artist, bring a message to the world, the proud pagan message of Heidevolk. Now I have noticed the time has slowly come for me to look to other things, and there for I have decided to focus myself more on Paganism and other musical projects I always wanted to work on but never had the time for. The next CD will be my last with Heidevolk and I will leave the band in the fall of this year.

Quentin Stainer is currently working on new material for Derelict Earth and has already completed a first song for what will be a third full-length album planned for 2012, following the release of And So Fell The Last Leaves... earlier this year.

The following statement was made on Derelict Earth's official Facebook page: "First song completed for what will be an upcoming third album! I still don't know if I will be able to complete it before the end of the year so expect it for 2012, especially since the songwriting is even more dense than on And So Fell The Last Leaves.... SSS - Napalm Death Frontman To Guest On New Album

In case a new SSS album wasn't enough reason to wet your pants, none other than the legendary Mark "Barney" Greenway (if you don't know what band Barney Greenway plays in, then gtfo) will appear as a guest vocalist on the band's forthcoming new album, entitled Problems To The Answer. Greenway performs guest vocals on the tracks "The Kill Floor", "Here Comes The Neighbourhood" and "Roar".

Commented Barney Greenway on his guest appearance: "Foxy really knows his musical onions and when he had some parts for me to do, I knew it was going to be a gas. The main part had a Discharge-y feel to it, so I was sold on that instantly. Went in, shouted, went home. No fucking about. Good stuff."

SSS frontman Foxy comments: "Barney was on a shortlist of one - it was him or no one. Knew he'd be into the direction of our latest musical outing and the stance the songs take were right up his street. Some serious barking was required and his dulcet tones didn't disappoint."

Problems To The Answer will be released in Europe on June 6th and in North America on July 12th through Earache Records.

The album was recorded at Whitewood Studios in the band's hometown of Liverpool and was produced by Rob Whiteley along with SSS bassist Mark Magill.

The Faceless - Are Officially Singer-less

As was rumored on the webernet for eons, The Faceless frontman Derek Rydquist has left the US technical death metal band.

Derek Rydquist officially confirmed his departure on Lambgoat earlier today: "As you Internet sleuths have deduced, I have left The Faceless. I left the band a couple months ago, and we were waiting until they had everything sorted out on their end before saying anything about it, but I guess I'll take it upon myself to break the news. I am no longer emotionally or artistically fulfilled by being the vocalist for the group, and that's how I arrived at my decision. Touring's luster has worn off, and I have found myself reconsidering the role I would like to take in creating and presenting music. Also, being a 'professional musician' was kind of ruining my love for music because when you rely on this stuff to make you money, as with anything, it is easy to become bitter towards it. Not that it was all bad, I had the best times I will ever have being in this band, but it is time for me to move on.

I'd like to thank the band and the friends I've made through the band for making this not only a life altering experience, but a life shaping one. There is an immense amount of talent in this band, and the new vocalist they have is doing a great job, so please keep supporting The Faceless. I can now join you in anticipating the new album.

If you're interested, I'm now playing in another group with some dudes from some awesome bands. Check it out at this location. We're mixing the album right now, so we should have some music up soon."

Just in case you're wondering, Geoff Ficco (Kamikabe, Orgone) has apparently been singing for The Faceless since Rydquist's departure.
