Nightwish - Reveal Concept For Upcoming Album

Official press release

In the midst of recording a new album, Nightwish has been preparing a movie.

"Imaginarium" is a music fantasy - film based on the forthcoming Nightwish album of the same title and its 13 songs.

The protagonist of the film is a songwriter with an otherworldly imagination. He is an old man who still thinks he's a young boy. While asleep he travels into his distant past where his dreams of old come back to him mixed to the young boy's world of fantasy and music.

In his dreams the old man fights to find the memories most important to him.

This never-done-before project originates to more than two years in the past when Tuomas first introduced his ambitious idea of the "Imaginarium" - concept to the fellow band members and to Mr. Stobe Harju, the director behind "The Islander" - music video. He will be the director of this full-length feature. The film will be produced by Solar Films Inc. together with Nightwish.

The shootings for "Imaginarium" will begin this spring, it will have its premiere in 2012 and the album it's based on will be released in an undefined point in time.

Nightwish will hold a press conference related to this project at the end of February.

Elodie Artour for the news!]

Pyramaze - Part Ways With Bassist And Guitarist

Official press release

It is with great sadness that we announce Michael Kammeyer and Niels Kvist's departure from Pyramaze.

From Michael Kammeyer: "Dear friends and fans of Pyramaze, I have for a long time now struggled to find the mental surplus as well as the sheer time to put into the large endeavor that Pyramaze has become. Back when I created the band in 2002, my private and professional life looked a lot different than it does today, and it has become increasingly taxing on me to find the energy that is needed to do all the stuff that I have to do. In fact it has become difficult to the point where it's not justifiable anymore.

I have had to take a long hard look at what I must do, to avoid a mental meltdown, and unfortunately I have had to make a hard decision - in fact, probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I feel the time has come to stop my journey with Pyramaze.

The band has been a very important part of my life for the last 8-9 years. I've built it from scratch, and I've been working my ass off to get Pyramaze to where it is now. So it is truly with a heavy heart that I now close this chapter.

However, Pyramaze will go on. Jonah, Urban, Toke and Morten have decided to carry on, and it is with a sense of comfort that I now leave the rudder in their capable hands. They are all great musicians, and I'm convinced they have some tricks up their sleeves in the songwriting department. I therefore hope that all of our awesome fans will continue to support Pyramaze.

I want to thank everyone who has helped the band through the years, fans as well as friends, family and business partners. I have always greatly appreciated your support. But most of all, thanks to my band brothers, who have made Pyramaze special to me. I hope the songs that I've written will continue to inspire, continue to put a smile on your faces and continue to make you raise your metal fists to the sky shouting Pyramaze!"

From Jonah W. on behalf of Pyramaze: "This is a truly a sad day for Pyramaze, with Michael and Niels announcing their departure. You will both be missed, and of course remain my lifetime friends. You have both made a tremendous mark on establishing Pyramaze as an institution in the underground Power/Heavy Metal world. I love and respect you both as though you were my own blood brothers. You guys have created so many memories that I will cherish forever. I speak for all of us when I say these things.

As previously announced, Septicflesh's forthcoming album The Great Mass will hit the stores on April 18th (one day later in North America). It is time to unveil the cover artwork of the album's jewel case edition, designed by Seth Siro Anton himself:

Chaos Divine - Sign To Welkin Booking Agency

Welkin Entertainment press release

Welkin Entertainment is pleased to announce the addition of Perth's Chaos Divine to our booking agency roster!

Welkin Entertainment Director, Tim Charles commented: "Chaos Divine is a band I have been aware of for quite some time, and one I've been consistently impressed by. This is a band that has already acquired a significant following, won no less than 5 Australian Metal Awards in 2009 (including "Best Band"), has toured internationally, supported many big name internationals here in Australia, and in general made many a lasting impression.

However, all of this pales into comparison to the monumental achievement that is their new album The Human Connection. This release sees the band reach an astonishing level of maturity, mixing heaviness with soaring melodies and crystal clear production courtesy of Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, God Forbid), in a way unlike any other in the Australian scene. We at Welkin Entertainment are extremely excited to be working with a band that we believe is truly going places, and are looking forward to bringing them to a city near you in 2011!"

The Human Connection will be available in Australia from March 25, as well as available digitally through iTunes for international fans.

Coronatus - Part Ways With Singer, Replacement Announced

German metallers Coronatus have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"First the bad news: After some months of work and rehearsal with Natalia Kempin, we realized, that the different opinions about music and band are too far away from each other, and does not support the creative band life for the upcoming tour dates and the new album. For this reason, Coronatus and Natalia split, she will not be Coronatus singer anymore from this point. We wish her all the best for the future!

Viola Schuch, singer on Lux Noctis, will fill the empty space for a part of the tour! This is a very rare opportunity for all Coronatus fans, to see an unexpected Line Up, and an exceptional experience on the upcoming concerts! For the other part of the tour, we will announce another surprise very soon. Stay tuned!

A short note for the upcoming tour with Haggard: we will play a part of the Haggard European Tour, mostly Germany. Exact locations and dates will be announced soon."

Cathedral - Announce Plans To Disband

Legendary UK doom metallers Cathedral have called it quits.

Their statement reads as follows:

After a twenty-one year career, Cathedral announce their forthcoming retirement from the scene. The band will make their exit from the live arena at the end of this year and plan to record one final studio album to be released in 2012.

According to vocalist Lee Dorrian: "It's simply time for us to bow out. Twenty-one years is a very long time and it's almost a miracle that we managed to come this far! We've had a great time during Cathedral's existence and it has literally been our life. It's just time to move on and leave our recorded legacy to linger."

Since forming in 1990 the band have released nine studio albums and several EPs. A large part of their career was spent recording for Earache Records, debuting with the landmark 1991 doom metal classic Forest Of Equilibrium. This was followed by the seminal 1993 album Ethereal Mirror which was released by Columbia Records in America to large critical acclaim.

More recently Cathedral have continued to expand on their overall sound, releasing two albums for the Nuclear Blast label. Dorrian continues: "Our latest album The Guessing Game is exactly where we wanted to be after all this time. Staying in one place, being repetitive and predictable is something we wanted to avoid right from the off."

The band's uncompromising individual style has gained them a large cult-following around the world. They recently reunited with the original line-up for their twentieth anniversary concert to perform their aforementioned debut in its entirety. They are scheduled to make several final live appearances 2011, including dates in Japan and at the Maryland Deathfest. More dates will follow including a farewell London show later in the year.

Dorrian concludes: "We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to those special people who have supported Cathedral over the years. It may sound like a cliché but it's certainly true - we simply wouldn't have been able to do it without you, thanks!"
