Forbidden - New Album Details Revealed

Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Forbidden continue their work at Sonic Room/Audio Voyage Studios in Livermore, California recording their upcoming new album Omega Wave. Album artwork has been commissioned from Kent Mathieu (Forbidden, Exodus, Autopsy, Exhorder). The album is being produced by Forbidden guitarist/songwriter Craig Locicero and Tim Narducci. All tracks will be mixed by Sean Beavan (Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails).

States guitarist Locicero: "After a year of writing and a couple of months recording this son of a bitchin' album, we've finally decided to call it Omega Wave. It certainly would have been easy to self-title it, but anyone who knows anything about Forbidden and our history understands that we spend a considerable amount of time thinking about these things. That's just what we do. Omega Wave seemed most fitting and it's one of the thrashiest songs on the record! An "omega wave" is the feeling of impending doom that hangs over everyone in these difficult times, more so than any other era in history. Many feel that our time is almost up, partly because it has been written and predicted in almost every ancient society; also because most people can tell which way the wind is blowing, if you know what I mean. So the question is, is this all really happening by design or is it a self-fulfilled, man-made hysteria that we are creating by accepting it in our collective consciousness? Either way, it's a black wave of negative energy that exists to billions of people. That is the Omega Wave."

On why the band sought out the artist Forbidden's career began with: "Within the last few months, we've reconnected with the original artist who painted the artwork for our first two albums, Forbidden Evil and Twisted Into Form: Kent Mathieu. I love the work he's done with everyone, but there is no denying that the first two covers he did for Forbidden are a couple of the most iconic pieces for our genre. Getting Kent on board was a coupe and he gets us like no other artist could. He's got a pile of lyrics to inspire him and he fully understands the Omega Wave concept. I can't wait to see what he comes up with. Should be perfect!"

On the dedication of co-producer Tim Narducci: "Tim and I have know each other since '86, when I was in Forbidden Evil and he was in Tyrannicide. We were under-aged kids drinking beer in the Ruthie's Inn parking lot. That's some history and he knows his metal. Some of my peers have been grilling me on what it's like to produce a record for the first time. It's time consuming and somewhat difficult to get the performances out of someone you've known since you were kids, but I am not doing this alone. Tim Narducci has been by my side every step of the way. We help each other stay focused and motivated. He's excellent and catching the little things and bringing the big picture together. We also have a great engineer and person in Brad Barth, who is a recording wizard and also owns Audio Voyage/Sonic Room (where we're tracking). I really love working with these guys. Tim, Brad, and I have been playing together in SpiralArms since 2005. We've learned a lot about ourselves and recording over the last 5 years and recently completed Spiral's first full length album that comes out this summer. We started recording and finished that album before we began the Forbidden record."

Agent Steel - Part Ways With Vocalist, Reunite With Original Singer

Original news, posted on 25.04.2010

US Speed/Thrash metallers Agent Steel have issued the following short update:

"For those who have not heard the news; Agent Steel has parted ways with vocalist Bruce Hall Steel Prophet] on good terms. We're still writing new material for our upcoming 6th studio album that we plan on recording sometime this year. We will issue a press release regarding our "search" for a new vocalist; who knows? We may have one already... so stay tuned."

UPDATE (thanks to Bad English and Hellish Star)

Only a few days after Agent Steel announced having parted ways with Bruce Hall, the band now confirmed that none other than original vocalist John Cyriis has returned to the fold - which is fan-fucking-tastic news!

Here's the official word from the band: "As some of you may or may not have already heard the news that Agent Steel has parted ways with vocalist Bruce Hall. We as a band would like to acknowledge the accomplishments together with Bruce and the three solid metal offerings; Omega Conspiracy, Order Of The Illuminati and Alienigma'. Together we had the fortune of touring and sharing the stage in some amazing places and visited some breathtaking countries. Bruce dedicated over a decade to Agent Steel and for this he should be recognized, and we part on good terms. We as a band still have the fire and passion to deliver the metal goods to fans from the past, present and future.

We had been writing new material for the next chapter of Agent Steel and after the news got out that we separated from Bruce, we were contacted by original singer, John Cyriis. Call it destiny; call it what you will, but now the communicative channel is open between Agent Steel and vocalist Cyriis; we are in talks about an imminent Agent Steel reunion tour possibly involving summer/autumn 2010 appearances and an extensive "2011" metal blitz.

Honestly, we do not know how long this reunion will last; however this could be the long-awaited destiny of Agent Steel originally interrupted, so long as everything moves forward in an evolving good working climate. Our objective regarding this Agent Steel reunion is attached with the intentions of providing the opportunity to not only the dedicated fans, but also to a whole new generation of metal fans the chance to see Agent Steel live on stage with Cyriis; the original voice on the classic Skeptics Apocalypse, Unstoppable Force and Mad Locust Rising releases. The legacy continues..."

Sodom - To Record New Album This Summer

Tom Angelripper of German metallers Sodom has issued the following update on the band's MySpace blog:

"The current economic problems have overtaken and finally reached the music business, too. Also, the labels have to suffered, and in our case, this applies to the label SPV. This is also applied to the artists when it comes to the well-planned releases which had to be deferred. But now SPV is newly built up and ready for action. They are currently concentrating on the remainder of the bands like us. Therefore there will be no barrier. Finally, we have to file here and there in the studio to our and your satisfaction.

There has never been a Sodom album which is so wide-ranged, as powerful and as typically Sodom as this one.

At the moment we are searching for a new studio which is able to fulfill our ideas of a high-quality production.

We will start the recording in summer so as to we are able to release the album in fall or pre-Christmas trade.

At this point I'd like to thank you for your patience one more time."

Live Nation will promote the tour nationally.

The main stage will feature full sets from Ozzy, Mötley Crüe and Rob Halford (who last appeared on Ozzfest in 2004 with Judas Priest), performing songs from his solo career along with material from Judas Priest and Fight. Devildriver and Nonpoint will round out the main stage line-up. Second stage headliners and six-time Ozzfest veterans Black Label Society will be joined by Drowning Pool, Kingdom of Sorrow, and Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Saviours and Kataklysm.

Each Ozzfest date will include 13 bands on two stages with music beginning at 1:00 PM. In addition, concert-goers can once again visit the Ozzfest "Village of the Damned" featuring a mix of interactive activities, shopping and entertainment throughout the venue concourses.
