Megadeth - Bassist David Ellefson Returns To Line-Up

Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to Megadeth's upcoming historic month-long Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, Megadeth will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album Rust In Peace in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth favorites.

"This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness," Mustaine says. "David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked...HARD!"

David Ellefson concurs: "This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career."

Ellefson will join Mustaine and Megadeth band members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar) on tour in support of the group's current CD Endgame, which has received some of the highest critical accolades of the band's career.

"We'd like to thank James LoMenzo for several years of loyal service on the bass, and wish him the very best," Mustaine adds.

Elexorien - New Vocalist Announced

Dutch metallers Elexorien have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Hearken, proud Legions of the Blade, and hear our words, for we have been quiet for too long, now.

Allow us to share something with you.

Something out of the ordinary, really. A thing which fills us with great pride and honour, and which has changed our perspective for the better, from a reminiscent gaze at what we have achieved so far, to boldly looking ahead at a bright and splendorous future for Elexorien.

My friends, we have found our new singer!

Lotte - vocals

(pic by onderkrocht fotografie)

Nineteen years of age, she goes by the name of Lotte, and she will manifest baffling new definitions of sounding the siren call. Numerous events are being planned as we speak, so have no fear of missing out on an opportunity to behold us in full glory once more in the near future.

Exact dates and locations of said conquerings will be announced soon. We expect our Legion to be at its full strength, and present at all skirmishes.

As always, we are looking forward to rush into the fray side by side with you.

Salutations, mighty hails,
Lainedil, Liza, Bert, Merlijn, Wolve, Lotte."

The Red Chord - Former Drummer Rejoins

US metallers The Red Chord have issued the following update on their official website:

"We will perform with our original drummer Michael Justian at all upcoming shows. Justian has not publicly performed with us since the Maryland Deathfest of 2004 and replaces our recently departed drummer, Brad Fickeisen.

Justian left the band at the end of 2003, joined Unearth in 2004 and also spent time filling in for Trap Them, Earth Crisis, Shai Hulud and 108 in the interim.

We wish Brad the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Says Mike McKenzie: "It's been great to be jamming with Mike again. His approach to drumming is truly unique and amazing. Even though it has been about six years since he has played this stuff, his playing is stronger than ever. We have rehearsed almost every day for the last month and we cannot wait to do this live again."

The first show with our adjusted lineup will be this Wednesday, February 10 at the Hideaway in Johnson City, Tennessee before meeting up with My Children My Bride, Chelsea Grin and Those Who Lie Beneath on the Burgers And Bowling Tour."

Charon - Band Update

Finnish metallers Charon have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"New decade brings changes to Charon and now it's good time to update the situation. There have been rumours among Charon fans and followers about the future of the band. Playfully it could be said that Charon was not able to escape the cold grip of ongoing recession and had to go through re-organization and layoffs.

After taking some time out last summer we were not able to tune our engine to the needed pace for the studio sessions. We had written a bunch of new songs during the last couple of years but were not able to put them on record. After a long pondering and going through different alternatives, it was inevitable that we cannot output the next album in this mood of confusion. As a consequence guitarist Pasi Sipilä has left Charon.

Charon will continue playing and writing songs as a quartet. At the moment we are looking forward to new working methods and finding new ways to surprise our fans and to challenge bandmates with no boundaries on style or sound. We would like to thank Pasi for all his work for Charon during the years and wish him good luck with music!

We were glad to notice on our November gig that fans still believe in our work. It really kicks us forward and gives us a reason to continue. Hopefully we will meet again soon!

We wish all our fans and friends great and interesting new year 2010! Charon will be entering the studio in March to record couple of new songs. Brand-new track will be released in March at our website in free internet dowload!"

(Also thanks to MaSTeMa)
