Kataklysm - European Tour Cancelled

Kataklysm has decided to cancel their upcoming European tour with Behemoth, scheduled for February. Singer Maurizio Iacono explains:

"First I'd like to say how crazy of a ride it's been since the release if ITAOD. we've done over 200 shows in less then two years, nine tours across the world and meeting all our fans was the highlight, they made our last album the biggest and strongest album to date. It's been great but the machine needs time off. Theres nothing more we like than to stay on the road nonstop but we have to come to reality here and see that we need to take a breather, recharge our batteries and come back stronger than ever with a brand new album, because we will have to redo all this all over again in no time. We didn't want to cancel the tour with Behemoth but after much thought it was the right decision. J-f has to keep working through January on the new album so he gets absolutely no break time, which isnt fair. Then we have to mix it and it's in February and we need to be here to supervise this new masterpiece we've created for you guys. "Prevail" is the priority for next year and it needs our full attention.

But don't worry, we have A LOT of plans ahead of us, and we will be back in no time at all. Also, this doesn't affect the New Zealand and Australian dates in late-March, those will go ahead as planned. Other than that the band is doing great. Steph will be rejoining us for the last four shows of this tour with Chimaira wich has been great. We got a couple more dates left. Check our Myspace or website and come check us out. These will be the last dates until the next record comes out. I'd like to wish everyoneout there some happy holidays with your loved ones."

Illdisposed - Announce New Guitarist

Danish extreme metallers Illdisposed have issued the following update:

"All right folks, it's time to reveal Martin's replacement. Our new guitarist is a longtime friend from Copenhagen, always showing up at our shows to party with us. Ladies and gentlemen: Mr. Franz Hellboss. The first time you'll see Franz live on stage with us will be in Copenhagen on Saturday, December 15th where he will join us for a song or two."

Illdisposed is currently mixing its new album at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with Fredrik Nordström for a March 28, 2008 release via AFM Records.

Commented Jakob Batten: "The new album is recorded differently compared to the previous two albums. We didn't really cut into the tracks while recording so nearly everything you'll hear is first takes. We want it all to sound more raw and alive this time. A lot of the new albums you hear these days are so tight and over-produced that it doesn't sound like humans playing anymore and in the long run you get tired of it - I think."

Iced Earth - Matt Barlow Rejoins Band

Matt Barlow has rejoined Iced Earth, according to the following statement posted on www.icedearth.com:

"Hello Dear Friends!

Once again the winds of change are upon us, and this time I can say that I am very happy about the result.

While out on the European tour I had several in depth discussions with many loyal Iced Earth fans. A common theme of these discussions was how much Matt is missed. I agreed with the fans that things were not the same and that it was a very special period in Iced Earth's history.

When I heard several months ago that Matt was going to be doing a project in music again, I was thinking about contacting him and seeing what his intentions were. I didn't act on this because I was so focused on the writing of the new epic, and frankly, it just didn't seem realistic.

Well, after getting out on the road and speaking with many of you directly, I decided to call Matt and see how he was doing and if he was interested in working together again. I am proud to say that he is coming back to Iced Earth and we will be getting back to work in the studio very soon.

Matt will be singing on Part 2 of the Something Wicked concept CD and we will be looking forward to getting out on tour and delivering a series of Iced Earth shows that will rival any in the history of the band. And there will be a proper DVD filmed from this period, something we've all been waiting for.

I want you all to know that it was you who made this a reality. I have missed Matt's presence onstage and in my personal life in a big way over the past few years, so I appreciate your honesty in our discussions. It did help me realize the decision to move forward with pursuing this. The fans have spoken and we have delivered!

You true fans know that I'm a straight shooter, I say what I mean and mean what I say. And though I value your opinions greatly, you must believe that this is a decision that comes completely from the heart and is not motivated by anything other than what feels the best for Iced Earth. This is the way that things have always been dealt with, for better or for worse, but always honestly and from the heart.

Tim Owens is a great and talented singer and I wish the best for him and his future on a personal and professional level.

There will be more news soon as to further developments and plans. This will push back the release of Part 2 a bit. Not because we couldn't be ready to record in time, but because of a new addition to Matt's family in early 2008!

Dream Evil - Update From The Band

The following message was posted on the official website of Swedish Power metallers Dream Evil:

"Finally we've got a new webmaster and our new site is up and running as you all can see. It's been totally quiet in the news section for a wile, we're sorry about that! We are not dead, only lazy old farts.

So what happened in the Dream Evil camp the last six months?
For family reasons our lead guitarist Mark Black unfortunately left the band and we now have a new (hairy & scary) axe swinger called Dannee Demon .

Dream Evil will release a cd with some new songs and some old songs (which earlier only have been released as bonus tracks in Japan) combined with a live DVD recorded November 25:th 2006 in Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg. The preliminary release date is now set to March - April 2008. The album will be called "Gold Medal in Metal".

We are all working in our metal factories on making new splendid unbloody serious farmer metal anthems that hopefully will show up on our next studio album.

We also hope that the "upcoming live shows"-section on this site will be filled with gigs in a near future near You."
