Tiamat - Metaltown Fest/Rumors/DVD

As posted on Tiamat's official website:

7th of July 2005

Alive...

We're extremely happy to inform our Swedish fans that we have just been confirmed to perform at this years Metaltown festival in Gothenburg on the 30th of July!!! Other bands on that festival are Beseech, Nine, Apocalyptica, our bloodbrothers Dark Tranquillity, and the great Rammstein!

Recently we have received many emails asking about a rumour saying that Tiamat is about to split up. The answer to you bunch is: What planet are you from?

The DVD "Church of Tiamat" has been delayed and is now set for a release in the end of October. We're just finishing up packaging and deciding what to put in the bonus section. Siggi Bemm did a great job mixing the audio, both in stereo and 5.1!!!

And a final word, London we're with you!!! God bless you!

Peace,
T

Aborted - New Guitarist

The following statement was recently made on the band's official website:

"We're proud to announce we have found a fitting replacement for Bart, who recently left the band for personal reasons. The new surgeon on duty is no the less than Stephane Soutreyard, who is also known for his stellar work in his other band Yyrkoon. Stef has his first shows with us this weekend on none less than the Furyfest and the Graspop festivals. We can't wait to get on the road this weekend and do these among the other festivals we have planned, see you on stage to blast like hell!

Here are a few words from Stef about joining the band:

"I've been a fan of the band for several years now, especially since their Goremageddon album. It's a real honor for me to join the Aborted line-up. I will do my best to drive an awesome surgery!! Enjoy! See you soon guys!"

Tuska - Bal-Sagoth Cancelled

TUSKA OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT

- Bal-Sagoth Cancels
- Skyclad added to the roster

Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Kaisaniemi, Helsinki, during 15.-17.7. has made a slight but very regrettable change in the program.

British cult band Bal-Sagoth have been forced to cancel their performance. For some time now, the band has stated on their web site that the recordings of their forthcoming album are still on their final
stages. Due to this we received the following messege from the band's frontman Byron:

"BAL-SAGOTH will regrettably not now be playing the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Helsinki, Finland as previously planned. This is due to the fact that the band are in the final stages of recording the long awaited and much delayed sixth and final album, and all available time and effort is being directed towards the completion of the opus. However, BAL-SAGOTH greatly look forward to playing in Helsinki and meeting their steadfast Finnish supporters later in the year once the sixth album has been completed."

Plans for a club show in Helsinki this autumn are currently under way.

Replacing Bal-Sagoth will be another British forerunner of Folk Metal, Skyclad. The band was formed in Newcastle in 1990 and today Skyclad is regarded as a classic in the Folk Metal scene. Skyclad was one of the first to combine traditional metal with folk influences in a way that has attracted a large number of followers. Skyclad's last studio album A Semblance Of Normality was released in 2004.

Right before their Tuska-show, Skyclad will perform two days in a row at the Dong-Festival in Germany with a regular performance on Friday and an acoustic one on Saturday. Skyclad will perform at Tuska on Sunday 17th of July at 16:45 on the Sue Stage.

There are still a few hundred tickets left for Friday, all other tickets are sold out. Remaining tickets for Friday cost 32 euro each and they are sold at Tiketti (www.tiketti.fi) and Lippupalvelu (www.lippupalvelu.fi).

Tickets for the evening clubs are sold only at Tiketti and cost 6-8euro.
Tickets for NightLife Rock are available only at the festival site and at the door of the club.

Elfonía - New Album Title Revealed

The title of Elfonía's new album is 'This Sonic Landscape'. As the name suggests, English will be used for some of the tracks.

The singer Marcela, who also has sung on the last Ayreon album and is the lead singer for the new Lucassen's project Stream of Passion, says about the new Elfonía album: "We kept the thought in mind, and while writing the songs we felt some of them made better sense in English, so we went for it. We ended up with 3 tracks in English, 6 in Spanish and 3 instrumentals."

Agonizer - To Take Part In Wacken Metal Battle

Agonizer have been chosen to represent Finland in the Wacken Open Air metal festival's yearly "Wacken Metal Battle" band competition.

The Finnish jury, lead by Sauli Vuoti, the founder of the Finnish metal magazine Inferno, selected Agonizer to represent Finland in this year's competition after going through almost 200 demos.

"Agonizer simply had the best songs and I could see them recording an album in the near future," Vuoti said. Agonizer's unique style combines Scandinavian rock/metal in the vein of Sentenced with traditional heavy metal elements. "We have also seen Agonizer live, and they really blew the place to pieces!" Vuoti explained. Other bands which Vuoti thought highly of included Republic Of Desire and Dauntless.

Agonizer get to play at this years Wacken festival among participants from most European countries. The winner is rewarded with a worldwide record contract with German record label Armageddon Music. Doom metal band Vanguard, also from Finland, won the competition last year.

Stratovarius - Possible Trojan In MP3 Files

A statement from Jens Johansson:

"No, we didn't plant MP3s with any malware. Of course, that's what I would say even if we did do it so if you don't believe me.. well what the fuck can I do about it.

Yes, it's very fucking possible for malicious code to hide in MP3 or other non-executable files. If you don't believe this you are very naive. There have been exploits that executed just by hovering the mouse over a file. I wish I was making this stuff up, but I'm not. It could be via a bug in the core operating system, some library thereof, some media player, some popular spyware, anything.

No, I don't at all know if MP3s with Stratovarius music is the actual vector. But it seems quite possible given the described payload.

No, you will probably not be able to find out who did this. I would consider these strange .strato files as lost. But that "challenge-response" shit could mean that there actually might be some way engineered into this thing to get them back using that challenge information and the right algorithm. Good luck..

Yes, I got copies of a file named "strato.exe" from angry people. And I'm not even going to be hovering my mouse over these files, much less run them to see if a picture of mickey mouse comes up or not.

Yes, provided it's not replicating (a pure trojan) the 12-year-old in me thinks this is at least a little bit funny.

Whichever 12-year-old sociopath did this, if those "certain" new MP3s really turn out to be the vector, well.. no pat on the back, but contact me and I'll get you a signed Stratovarius CD, a few years in federal prison, and probably a great paying IT security job when you get out..."

Metal Bible

Actually, it's not exactly what you may think... The Metal Bible is a special Bible version for all who are into metal music. It contains the New Testament in an easy to understand language as well as testimonies from metalheads that talk about what God and the Bible means to them.

Those metalheads include Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Tommy Aldridge (Whitesnake), Brian Welsh (ex-Korn), Rob Rock, Michael Sweet (Stryper), Ken Tamplin, Metal Pastor Bob Beeman (Sanctuary International), Karl Walfridsson (Pantokrator), Shadows of Paragon, Luke Renno (Crimson Thorn), Simon "Pilgrim" Rosén (Crimson Moonlight), Christian Rivel (Narnia, Divinefire), Matt Smith (Theocracy), Ulf Christiansson (Jerusalem) as well as some others.

The purpose of this special Bible is to break down prejudices and misconceptions that many metalheads have about the Bible and help them to realize that the Bible is not a boring book but an interesting and living book that has a lot to tell us today, so that they through this special Bible version can realize that the Bible and it's message is something for them too. As a result of this many metalheads will check out the Bible and through it find Christ.

Helloween - The Legacy Of The Seven Keys

The german band Helloween announced the tittle of their new album scheduled to be released at October 31th, 2005, it will be called: "Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy".

The band explains the causes that lead them to choose this tittle:

"The new HELLOWEEN songs inherit elements that connect to the lyrical concept of the first two highly successful 'Keeper OF The Seven Keys' albums. The new HELLOWEEN compositions offer intricate arrangements, many speed changes, gifted drum breaks and epic sounds. A renewed team spirit prevailing during pre-production encouraged the band members to hold intense rehearsal room sessions with a fresh inspiration, resulting in the band choosing "Keeper of The Seven Keys - The Legacy"."

They also make an clarification about their new DVD "Hellish Videos":

"The statement from Sanctuary says that the DVD contains all of the band's videos up to the "Time Of The Oath". This is untrue as the DVD contains ALLof the band's videos from Rabbit Don't Come Easy and back."

Their first Single, "Mrs. God", will be released at July 4th, and will "will contain various bonus features such as an exclusive non album track, one album track and the video for "Mrs. God", which will be shot in Nueremberg / Germany beginning of May."

They also plan to make a tour called "'Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy' World Tour 2005/2006". "On November 18th, their world tour will kick off in the Czech Republic. Europe will be toured extensively until end of January; in February the band will be playing in Asia, followed by concerts in North and South America from March on."

You can check some tourdates that have been already announced on their Tour Section, and some photos of the band on their News Section, in their website.

Absolute Steel - Signature with Black Lotus

ABSOLUTE STEEL sign with Black Lotus

Absolute Steel was formed in 1999 from a group of exciting musicians who simply loved the metal of the 1980s! Staying away from the so-called "true metal" ideology and proving their quality with real hard and heavy songs the band became a hype in their homeland of Norway.

After a self released demo and a single, they were picked up by the Norwegian label Edgerunner Records, and released their debut "The Fair Bitch Project" in 2002. Following their debut album, Absolute Steel played numerous shows, gradually building up their name especially with their original presence on stage: shows with heavy metal helmets, loads of pyros, strippers and more stuff surprised every audience! The guitar wars between the two axemen Andy Boss and Dave Bomb are almost legendary!

Shortly after the recording of their second album, Edgerunner Records called it a day and the band was looking for a new contract. Black Lotus became aware of this and as a result recently welcomed Absolute Steel into its growing roster of quality artists.

"WomaniZer" is the title of their second album which will be released worldwide early this autumn. A few months later, Black Lotus will re-master and re-release their first album? such a gem should not be missed!

So, come on! Taste the? Absolute Steel!
