Anubis Gate - Busy Recording New Album

Danish progressive power metallers Anubis Gate are currently working on a new album. The band entered the studio last Friday to begin recording its new album for a late 2010 release.

Vocalist/producer Jacob Hansen issued the following update today: "Morten Sørensen (drums), Kim Olesen (guitars/keys) and I went into the studio this Friday to track drums for our new album.

Morten started off by laying down some of the heaviest and best drums I have ever heard him do, so I'm confident that the new album will have a pretty strong rhythm section! Furthermore, it was great to hear the new songs slowly come to life, which they always do when we track drums to the demo vocals, guitars and keys. It suddenly starts to make sense. The songs seem a bit darker to me, and I like that...

For the gear freaks out there, we tracked drums on a Yamaha Maple Custom Definitive kit with 10, 12, 14 and 16" toms, 20" kick and Mapex Black Panther Maple snare. It sounded fantastic!

More news to come as we start to put on more layers!"

Gifts From Enola - New Album Stream Available

US Post-Metal/Post-Rock act Gifts From Enola are streaming their self-titled new album online. You can check it out at this location.

The accompanying press release says: "Gifts From Enola have created an album that finally and perfectly captures the intensity of their live show and expands upon all of their past ideas ten-fold. Or maybe they've simply taken past ideas to their logical extremes, destroyed them, and birthed brand new ideas from their ashes. Either way, the band continues to evolve at an astonishing rate and further pushes their sonic spectrum into an unclassifiable area that is all at once hard to explain, but impossibly easy to listen to. And we don't mean that in the "easy-listening" genre of music sense either. If anything, the band has become more technical and heavier than even the heaviest parts of From Fathoms (their critically acclaimed 2009 release), not in a "breakdown-and-beat-you-over-the-head" sort of way, but more in the album's overall sound.

With more attention to dynamics than ever before, and a recording that truly demonstrates a band approaching a creative zenith, the new Gifts From Enola album is a lock to defy expectations and raise the creative bar yet again. Easily staying ahead of the pack by pushing themselves to color outside any preset guidelines laid down before them, the band has never intentionally shunned convention - but simply write music with their collective heart on their sleeve.

The album was mixed and mastered by Moving Mountains guitarist/vocalist Gregory Dunn with artwork handled by Three Bears Design. This marks the bands third full length release, following up Loyal Eyes Betrayed The Mind (2006, The Mylene Sheath) and From Fathoms (2009, The Mylene Sheath), as well as a split CD with Seattle, WA's You.May.Die.In.The.Desert (2008, Differential). Gifts From Enola is a band through flirting with their potential, as this album proves, this is band that has fearlessly reached the next level."

Here's the link to the stream again.

Gifts From Enola cover art] tracklist:

01. Lionized
02. Dime And Suture
03. Alagoas
04. Grime And Glass
05. Rearview

Onslaught - Recording New Album, Demo Sample Online

UK Thrashers Onslaught have announced that Danish producer Jacob Hansen will be handling the production and mixing duties on the upcoming studio album due for release later this year. The album will be recorded and mixed at Hansen Studio in Ribe, Denmark starting on August 16th.

Guitarist Nige Rockett comments: "We're so stoked to be working with Jacob Hansen on the new album, Jacob has done some stunning work in the past, his production skills are really gonna suit the style of the new album, his mixes are so heavy and lively which is exactly what we are looking for. It'll be real cool to capture the live energy of the band in these recordings.

Drummer Steve Grice and vocalist Sy Keeler are leaving for the studio immediately after our appearance at Bloodstock Festival, where we should be, if all goes to plan, debuting a track entitled "Born For War" taken from the new album. It's a violent beast, very fast and heavy with lots of twists and turns."

Producer Jacob Hansen said the following about the recordings: "This is one of the more exciting productions this year for me! Since their very first albums (Power From Hell + The Force), which made quite an impression on me back in my teenage years, I've loved this dark and heavy band. Working with these guys is gonna be awesome!"

An audio sample of the pre-production of the song "Born For War" can be heard at the band's MySpace profile.

Krieg - New Album In October

Candlelight Records confirms October 26 as the North American release date for The Isolationist, the new album from Krieg.

Recorded at Volume Studios in Chicago, the nearly hour-long album will challenge the listener with its primitive yet complex sound. It is Krieg's sixth full-length recording, and the first since 2006's Blue Miasma.

Working with producer Sanford Parker (Nachtmystium, Pelican, Yakuza), The Isolationist finds Krieg further experimenting with sound. The rage and dissonance fans have come to expect from the New Jersey band emerges even more frenzied making the journey through this album far more intense than on previous efforts.

Vocalist Imperial admits: "The Isolationist presents Krieg at it's most evolved yet primal state thus far in fifteen years of causing problems for people's hearing. It is my ugliest and most personal child, going deep into the darkest places in my own history on earth. I'm a fucked up wreck, and this record shows that."

The Isolationist features performances from guitarist Joseph Van Fossen (Noctuary), bassist Wrest (Leviathan), and drummer Chris Grigg (Woe). "It was an intense process, considering everyone only had a few days in and out due to their own hellish schedules. I was fortunate to work with dedicated artists who each brought their own identity to the project and a good understanding behind the meaning of the record."

Krieg has been an integral part of the American black metal scene since forming in 1995. In addition to their full-length albums, including 2003's acclaimed The Black House (which Terrorizer Magazine noted it as "one of the ten most important American black metal records"), Krieg has recorded and released numerous demos, split and live recordings. Fans tally more than 40 individual items as part of the band's creative efforts. In addition to Krieg, vocalist Imperial has several other band projects including N.i.l., Apothecary.Sound.Lodge and his doom band March Into the Sea. He is also a member of Twilight which features members of Nachtmystium, Leviathan, The Atlas Moth, Isis, Minsk and more.

The Isolationist cover art] tracklist:

01. No Future
02. Photographs from an Asylum
03. All Paths to God
04. Ambergeist
05. Depakote
06. Religion III
07. Blue of Noon
08. Decaying Inhalations
09. An the Stars Fell On
10. Remission
11. Dead Windows
