The Ocean - Working On New Material

The Ocean are currently in the writing process of a new full-length album, penciled in for a tentative mid-2012 release.

The Ocean guitarist and vocalist Robin Staps issued the following: "After 2 weeks of creative isolation at the new Oceanland on the Spanish coast, there are about 25 minutes of new material written and pre-produced which are basically one continuous piece of music. Apart from that, there are 4 more songs including a wicked cover track. Loic will start working on vocal pre-productions soon.

Much like when I wrote Precambrian in Australia, I have written these tracks on my own, far away from everything else and everyone else but with the sea close enough to have a strong impact on my flow of ideas. You can actually hear its subtle roar in the guitar tracks if you crank them up on a quiet passage. The other guys have not been involved much yet because they are busy with their other bands Coilguns and Kunz who will see their debut split CD released on Pelagic in September."

The Ocean will hit the studio some time in early 2012 to record the follow-up(s?) to Heliocentric and Anthropocentric. More tour dates to be announced soon.

Eldritch - Ink Deal With Scarlet Records

Italian prog metallers Eldritch have signed a worldwide deal with Scarlet Records for the release of their eight studio album, Gaia's Legacy - a concept album on global warming based on Al Gore's documentary An Inconvenient Truth. The album will see the light of the day in late September 2011.

Gaia's Legacy will see Eldritch going back to their technical progressive roots, with lots of influences raging from thrash to a modern approach still in the band's distinctive style. Frontman Terence Holler wrote all the lyrics after a deep search of information on every kind of source for the last 3 years.

The album was produced by Marco Ribecai and Eugenio Simone at Syncropain Products Studio in Pisa, Italy, and mastered by Göran Finnberg (Opeth, In Flames, Evergrey, Dark Tranquillity) in Sweden. Firewind's Bob Katsionis, a long-time fan of the band, is credited as special guest keyboardist on the song "Like A Child".

Sworn - New Song Online

"The Silver Asylum", a brand-new track from Norwegian black metallers Sworn can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

"The Silver Asylum" comes off the band's as-yet-untitled new album, tentatively due in late 2011/early 2012 via an as-yet-undetermined label.

Sworn previously stated about the material: "Earlier there's been a mix between very melodic/atmospheric tracks and straight forward almost thrash-like tracks on our albums. We do this because we have a passion for both styles, and love to incorporate them into the Sworn sound.

What we've done on this third album is to make each song represent our sound a lot more, with both melodic and hard-hitting parts, while still being unique in themselves. This defines us a lot more."

Other songtitles set to appear on the next Sworn album include "Corridors Of Dark Salvation", "The Keeper" and "Mot Stupet".

The 11th Hour - Tap Officium Triste Vocalist For New Album

Pim Blankenstein of Dutch death doom metallers Officium Triste will be stepping in to record vocals for the upcoming The 11th Hour album.

Mainman Ed Warby has released the following statement on the matter: "Good and bad news. As custom dictates the bad first: Rogga Johansson (Bone Gnawer, Demiurg) will not be appearing on the upcoming 11th Hour album due to an illness that just won't subside. I've waited as long as I could for him to get better and he made a valiant effort to record his vocals but it's not up to his usual standard and time is running out.

Which brings us to the good news: Pim Blankenstein of Dutch doom veterans Officium Triste will be stepping in with his massive roar. As most of you know he's been performing live with The 11th Hour since the first show and I'm sure he'll prove a more than suitable replacement."

Impiety - Part Ways With Drummer

Singaporean death thrash metal band Impiety are parting ways with drummer Atum (ex-Malfeitor, ex-Tundra) who only joined the band late last year.

Here's the word from the band: Original vocalist/guitarist Shyaithan and the rest of Impiety announce a line-up shuffle this year, and this done so that logistically it may prove better for the band and it's continuous progress to wreak more chaos and carnage across this godforsaken globe, one we all call Planet Earth. It was never an easy decision to let Atum go but after much consideration it had to be done.

Here is Atum's closing statement: "After 10 months of hard work, worldwide touring and skullfucking recordings, i'm here to communicate my departure from Impiety. The recent events made me and Shyaithan come to the conclusion that our musical paths are taking different directions, so we decided to split in order to maintain a good friendship and keep in contact to support each other's career, which we are already doing. I'll keep working restlessly with Music as always, we're just done recording the new album with Divine Codex so stay true and keep supporting true Music."

Impiety extends its gratification to this brilliant drummer and thanks Atum for the greatest of times spent together rehearsing, recording as well as executing 10 hellish concerts together. Irreplaceable would be these greatest memories and achievements of Atum in Impiety and it shall continue to live on. "We wish Atum every success with his main band Divine Codex and all future projects/bands he will work with. Despite different career paths now, we shall remain in close contact and support his every effort and endeavour being one of the best drummers and greatest komrade we've known. ALL HAIL ATUM!"

Shyaithan has auditioned and finally recruited a full time drummer and will announce him shortly.
