My Silent Wake - Have A New Video Online

UK doomsters My Silent Wake have revealed a home-made video for one of their new songs "Death Becomes Us", as can be watched below. The song comes off the band's new effort IV Et Lux Perpetua, released just yesterday (29 October). You can find more information about the album in our news archive.

As reported earlier today, the band will embark on a short European with In Vain in a few days. Dates are available here. This will mark My Silent Wake's last tour with drummer/vocalist Jasen Whyte, who'll be leaving the band at the end of the year.

Here's the full message of the band: "Andi and Jasen will be playing on the tour. Andi did not need the break from the band that was reported a few months ago. These will be Jasen's last performances due to him leaving at the end of the year. Tank will be drumming and me (Ian Arkley) and Kate will be playing as usual."

Virgin Steele - New Song Online

You can now listen to "By The Hammer Of Zeus (and the Wrecking Ball of Thor)", a new song coming off Virgin Steele's new album The Black Light Bacchanalia, exclusively at Noisecreep.

Vocalist David DeFeis tells Noisecreep: "This track is a good representation of the barbaric-romantic style of the group. It is raw, primitive and aggressive, yet also bombastic, majestic and progressive. It is dark and serious, but it still cooks and maintains its sensuality."

"But before you listen, understand what the song is after on a conceptual level". DeFeis continues, "The lyrics are about the coming of the mountain-fire god, and his hatred and fear of the goddess, and his usurpation of her powers. The opening line sums up how the creation of this album went, and it also sums up the 'never surrender' Virgin Steele spirit: 'Pain is me and I'm relentless.'"

Lordi - New Drummer Announced

Remember that time Lordi fired their drummer because he appeared on stage with his other band without a mask? Omg, how could he! Right?
Well, it seems like Lordi have found a new drummer, called Otus - which stands for "creature". Needless to say he's one ugly motherfucker dude.

Mr. Lordi shares the following about Otus: "We are not really sure who or what he is, he is just... a creature, a thing (Otus in Finnish). He is a mixture of a butcher, an executioner, an alien, a lizzard and a zombie. Tough dude. And definitely one of the ugliest members in our family."

In case you were keeping track, Otus is the tenth member in Lordi family tree.

Crimfall - Ink Deal With Spinefarm Records

Official press release

Crimfall has joined the ranks of Spinefarm Record label and the release date of the yet unnamed second album has been set to be March of 2011.

Crimfall merges many genres from folk to black metal and wraps it up with expression better known from the world of movies and their soundtracks. The band itself describes their new album to be more epic, grandiose, extreme and more dramatic than their debut piece. Upholding the chosen path from the previous work but leading the listener to new sceneries and seasons; as the debut album's themes were of fire and summer's swift ending this one takes us to the coldest winter and unto brace of war with its ruthless reality stripped from heroics and glory. The album also features many visitors well recognized from Finnish Folk Metal Scene.

Beginning as Jakke Viitala's one man project Crimfall took shape in the year of 2007 until Helena Haaparanta and Mikko Häkkinen enlisted to take care of vocalist responsibilities. The first album As The Path Unfolds... was done with session musicians but after the release in 2009 the line-up stabilized as Janne Jukarainen (drums) and Miska Sipiläinen (bass) were hired to be permanent members. The producing of the second album was financed by the band itself and although the process was indeed arduous and long the band claims their newborn outshines their previous work in every aspect.

Hannu Lehtonen from Spinefarm adds his comments: "It is great to have Crimfall as new artist in Spinefarm. I can honestly say that the bands forthcoming second album is worth the wait. The band is in killer shape and has recorded an excellent piece of music which will be released in spring 2011."

The members of Crimfall would like to announce:" For Crimfall this alliance is a great leap in what has been a long painful march. This definitely opens up a new chapter in our history and the expectations are high since it finally seems we have found a partner that shares our faith in Crimfall's music and potential."
