Kingcrow - New Album Details

Kingcrow are proud to announce the title and the provisional tracklist of the new album "Phlegethon". Release date is scheduled for the next autumn, but no further official information is yet available.

"Phlegethon" tracklist:

01. The Slide
02. Timeshift Box
03. Islands
04. The Great Silence
05. Lullaby For An Innocent
06. Evasion
07. Numb (Incipit, Climax & Coda)
08. Washing Out Memories
09. A New Life
10. Lovocaine
11. Fading Out Pt. III
12. Phlegethon

Commented Kingcrow guitarist Diego Cafolla: "Here we are, 9 months later, after a long and tough working session in our "Sound Under Pressure Studio" it is time to spend a few words about the new forthcoming Kingcrow's album.

I feel the whole album sounds darker than "Timetropia"; we experienced a lot of new solutions and sounds that we have never used before and a strong progressive attitude as well.

We decided to record with several heads and guitars, a number of basses, percussions and a lot of synth sounds in order to have a considerable sound assortment.

The new songs collection is quite complex. Two are about 9 minutes length, one very experimental and the other one instrumental (some of you have already listened to it during the previous Timetropia tour dates); some are softer and more atmospheric; others definitely heavier, probably our heaviest songs of all time.

Talking about production this time we adopted a different way to handle it. We worked at every song from beginning to end before proceeding to the next one. The aim was to feel each song, keeping the right mood all the way through.

We are all very excited cause we do feel our new album both as a milestone and as a springboard for the band. Not only for the exceptional results of our effort but also and especially because of our new special team: our new singer, our new synth and keyboard-player and our new production staff.

It is thanks to the great commitment of that extraordinary people that "Phlegethon" was born."

Here is a short teaser video online for the forthcoming new Kingcrow studio album "Phlegethon".

Twisted Sister - New Video Online

A new Twisted Sister video for the song "30", Twisted's first new song in 11 years recorded by the band for the 25th Anniversary Edition, is available online. Click here to check it out.

"30" was originally written by Dee Snider with Marc Beeman and Sharon Lawson for the reality series Gone Country. Dee says, "While '30' was my attempt at a country song for the show, the realization was that rock 'n' roll is a direct outgrowth of country music. Since '30' was written about my Twisted Sister experience, it seemed only natural for us to record it and rock it out."

Candiria - To Release Four-Volume Set Of Rarities And Remixes

Official press release

At a time when music seems to have lost some of its distinctiveness, Brooklyn's jazzed-infused-metal experimentalists, Candiria, are back and once again ready to cross the lines of convention as they release a four volume set of rarities and remixes, "Toying With the Insanities". Volumes One and Two of "Toying With the Insanities" will be released on September 9th on Rising Pulse Records, while the final two volumes are slated for an early 2010 release. All four volumes will be released digitally, while 1,000 limited CDs of Volume One, and 300 limited LPs of Volume Two will be pressed.

"Toying With the Insanities" marks the band's first release since March 2009's "Kiss the Lie" which was delayed two years due to constraints with the band's previous label. After numerous speed bumps, "Kiss the Lie" was released on a small scale, without the assistance of a major label.

The remixed tracks on "Toying With the Insanities" were taken from Candiria's first three albums, and will feature contributions from underground, eclectic acts such as: Dalek, Dub Trio, Ghosts of the Canal, Kayo Dot and members of Dillinger Escape Plan, Fishbone, Peeping Tom and more.

"This is something that Carley Coma and I have discussed for a few years and since I now have my own label and Candiria officially owns the rights to the first three releases we decided to put the series out," comments Candiria guitarist John Lamacchia.

The track list for "Toying With the Insanities" Volume One is as follows:

01. Divided (Remixed by Dub Trio with Joel Hamilton)
02. Faction (Remix by Edgey)
03. Pages (Revisitation by Kayodot)
04. Tribes (Remix by Budzy)
05. Conjuring Spirits (Performed by Ghosts of the Canal)
06. Mental Crossover (Remix by Pole)
07. Three Times Again (Remixed by HighKoo and Mr.Delaroid)
08. Spectator (Performed by Ken Schalk)

3 Inches Of Blood - New Album Tracklisting

The world is eagerly awaiting the triumphant return of one of the biggest defenders of traditional heavy metal, 3 Inches Of Blood, and the anticipation continues to build to epic proportions. The stunning new album, "Here Waits Thy Doom", was tracked in Seattle's Sound House Recordings with renowned producer Jack Endino (High On Fire) and is soon to be hailed as the gospel of all things heavy. The album's official track listing is below along with some very interesting covers that span the hard rock spectrum and will be appearing as b-sides and/or bonus tracks for the upcoming release.

"Here Waits Thy Doom" is set for a September 8th release and stay tuned to the bands official MySpace page for all tour dates, videos and current news.

"Here Waits Thy Doom" tracklisting:

01. Battles and Brotherhood
02. Rock In Hell
03. Silent Killer
04. Fierce Defender
05. Preachers Daughter
06. Call of the Hammer
07. Snake Fighter
08. At the Foot of the Great Glacier
09. All of them Witches
10. 12:34
11. Execution Tank
12. Not Fragile (Bachman-Turner Overdrive cover)
13. Cities on Flame (Blue Oyster Cult cover)
14. Daytona (Zeke cover)

Cam Pipes (vocals) further explains the band's decision process when picking out what songs to pay homage to: "We decided to cover "Not Fragile" by Bachman-Turner Overdrive because they're a Canadian band and we wanted to represent our Canadian musical roots. BTO had many hits, but we wanted to do a deeper cut from their catalog plus 'Not Fragile' has a heavy driving riff at the core of the song which we felt translated well with our style.

"Blue Oyster Cult's 'Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll' is a song that our guitarist Justin had played the main riff to at soundcheck for a few years now and I guess it just got stuck in our heads, so we decided to learn it and record it. We've also been friends with Zeke for many years and 'Daytona' has always been a favorite Zeke song of ours. It's another one we've loosely jammed out in the rehearsal space and soundchecks before. It's a rare, slow Zeke song, which is good because we'd probably butcher one of their fast songs."

Shane Clark (guitars) states: "Our new album is finished and we've named it Here Waits Thy Doom. Much like our last record it is a step beyond the album that precedes it. We've again taken what we do a step further and not made Fire up the Blades part 2, we've stuck to our formula- no formula. We are true metal fans and we've made an unapologetic metal record. I think this our most focused record to date, from writing all the way to mixing there was no unnecessary drama or too many cooks in the kitchen. This is 3 Inches Of Blood at its most punishing, epic and mighty."

Mechanical Organic - New Album Update

Mechanical Organic main man Eddie Katz (vocals, keyboards and bass) have offered the following update regarding the new album progress:

"The new Mechanical Organic release is fully mixed and we have booked mastering. We should have the finished product in our hands in about two weeks. The album will be called "Disrepair Part Two - The Pleasure Fled" and will feature the epic 17 minute track "In the Fangs of Lunacy".

For this recording Connie D is back on guitar, he played guitar on the first album "Flat Earth Society" and I also have a man named Evan Harris on bass. He played in a progressive metal band named Taramis in the 80's and 90's and he is now playing in well known bands such and Eyefear and Black Majesty. He is an awesome bass player and has made a big difference to the Mechanical Organic sound."

Deventter - Recording Sophomore Album Finished

Original news, posted on 23.05.2009

On May, 16th, the Brazilian prog rock/metal band Deventter will begin recording its new album at the renowned Creative Studios in São Paulo. This is the same recording studio used by famous Brazilian bands such as Angra, Shaman, Krisiun, etc. Even Paul Di Anno has already recorded there.

Deventter will start recording the drums, following by the guitars. The guitar player André Marengo does not hide your excitement for the beginning of the recordings.
"We are anxious to begin recording the new CD. We all developed as musicians and this reflected in the new compositions that are heavier than our first album".

In times where much is discussed about the pros and cons of new technologies in front of the "vintage" recording methods, Deventter wants to merge the best of both worlds. "We are fans of pedals and effects. We use equipment from vintage to VST's, analog and digital effects. The important thing is to get the sound we want," says keyboardist Hugo Bertolaccini that defends the conventional recordings in studios instead of the home recordings, so in vogue at the moment. "We want to maximize the resources that Creative Studios is offering us. They have more than enough tools to meet our musical ambitions. Moreover, the studio works with a variety of bands and musical styles, and we will explore techniques that normally are not used in rock"

On the band's page at Youtube there are some videos of the pre-production sessions. The tracklist, title and even the cover of the new album are already defined, but the band keeps secret.

The new Deventter album is expected to reach the stores in September.

UPDATE

"Lead... On" will be the new album's title of the Brazilian progressive rock/metal band Deventter. This will be the band's second album, sucessor of the high acclaimed "The 7th Dimension" (2007). "Lead... On" is being recorded at Creative Studios (Angra, Shaman, Paul Di Anno) and Norcal Studios (Andreas Kisser, Edu Falaschi, etc), both in São Paulo (Brazil), and will bring the following tracks:

01. O.M.T
02. 6000
03. Bunkers & Bankers
04. Reflected
05. All Rights Removed
06. Transcendence Inc.
07. ...
08. This Grace
09. Losing Track Of Time
10. Down To The Apex
11. Lead...Off

According to the bassist Leonardo Milani, the title "Lead... On" gives flow to various interpretations, no matter if they have political, religious or philosophical nature.

Din Brad - Negură Bunget Drummer To Release Debut Album

Din Brad, the folk project of Negură Bunget drummer Negru, is proud to announce "Dor" as the title of its debut album.

According to a press release, "Dor" is a unique Romanian word/concept describing a fundamental characteristic of the local spirit. "Dor" is your heart longing for something you had and then lost, longing for something you wished for yet never had, longing for a person, a place, a time... "Dor" reflects a Romanian mythical time, in the same way as "Plai" reflects a Romanian mythical space. As a first step in the exploration of local traditional soundscapes, the album "Dor" is composed out of two distinct elements. On one side there are authentic Romanian traditional songs, sung by local performers and recorded in their original environment. On the other side there are some personal visions and reinterpretations of Romanian traditional music, performed and recorded in the studio, some featuring some prestigious guests. Both are mended by the same feeling powering them - "dorul". While the first part is the result of years of investigations into what is still alive today from the Romanian musical and spiritual ancestral traditions, the second part is a personal expression influenced by Din Brad's understanding and living of the lands that gave them birth.

The album's release is tentatively scheduled for later this year on Auerbach Tonträger.

Din Brad (meaning "from the fir tree") is Negru's personal project dedicated to a direct exploration of Romanian musical, spiritual and landscape heritage. More info on http://www.myspace.com/dinbrad.
