Berlin's Pop-Kultur music festival is set to open today, but at least seven acts will be missing from the line-up due to a boycott over its acceptance of Israeli embassy funding. That includes Finnish black metallers Oranssi Pazuzu who state that the controversy over the festival's receipt of Israeli government funds "resulted in giving a political character to the festival and therefore to all the artists participating."

In fact, guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds said he had written one album himself, titled Cold Dark Place. That album is now being released by Mastodon and Hinds recently shared its cover art. So, it all points to it being a companion piece to Emperor Of Sand.

On October 20th, Gwar will release a new studio album entitled The Blood Of Gods, via Metal Blade Records, their first since Dave Brockie passed away. In support of the new album, they will leave their arctic slumber and return to the road to cause aural devastation across North America. Joining in the chaos will be Ghoul, Doyle (10/20-11/5), He Is Legend (11/7-12/10) and U.S. Bastards. The tour kicks off in Richmond, VA on October 20th and runs through December 10th in Detroit, MI.
