Goatwhore - Writing New Material

Goatwhore, the New Orleans-based band featuring vocalist L. Ben Falgoust II (Soilent Green) and guitarist Sammy Duet (Acid Bath, Crowbar), is currently writing material for their follow up to "A Haunting Curse".

According to Duet, "We are well into it. I won't go in the whole, 'This one is gonna be the heaviest one yet, blah blah blah,' but it's gonna be pretty damn heavy. I am really happy with what we have written so far."

He continues, "If all goes to plan, we will enter Mana Studios in early February. Hopefully we will do some shows before then. Other than that, I'm just sitting on my ass being bored. I miss being on tour, but I guess you have to take what you can get."

Red Harvest - Update From The Band

Red Harvest have posted the following update:

"Time to break the silence and let you know what has been going on and also tell you a bit about what we are up to.

Good news first: We needed a break this spring, but we are back with charged batteries now. We are working hard on our new album (been doing it for some time already), and we have a great flow. The atmosphere within the band is very good and we have already loads of fucked up stuff rehearsed and recorded. Hopefully we are able to keep this speed and get our new album out during spring next year, maybe earlier. We have great plans for it!

About redharvestplanet.com.: This site was run by our good friend and supporter Colin. Unfortunately he realized he did not have the time to maintain it and update it anymore, and decided to shut it down. Sad but true. Thanx for all help and support Colin! From now on http://www.myspace.com/redharvestplanet is the place to check for news/updates and stuff.

Merch: It is true, we have a deal about merchandise with Razamataz. But since we have not played many gigs/tours/festivals the last months, they haven't made any hoods/T-shirts and stuff. This leads to my next point...

Gigs/tours/festivals: Frankly spoken we have not gotten many any serious offers lately. If the offers are so cheap we can not afford to bring our sound guy, our light guy and our visualizer, we are not playing. Simple as that. We are not greedy! We do not mind that we (the five guys in the band) are not earning any money. But we reserve the right to be able to pay our crew and give our fans what they have paid to see and hear. I know that this sounds harsh, but this is the way it has to be.

Thanx to all of you supporting us and writing us during these "off-months". Will keep you posted with news, pictures, clips and stuff more often from now on."

Brutal Truth - Prepare To Enter The Studio

As posted on the Brutal Truth website, "Evolution Through Revolution" is the working title for the new Brutal Truth record. The band adds: "We have been writing / grinding the songs live for the last year and are set to record in the fall. New to the writing and recording is guitarist Erik Burke of Sulaco, Kalibas, and countless other Rochester, NY based metal/grind projects. For those who have followed Dan's endeavors, he also plays in Nuclear Assault. So with a new guitar player, the obvious question is... what's it sound like? We have some tracks on the relapse compilation "This Comp Kills Fascists", that could give you a little idea, however, the material for the record is a bit more involved. All the complexities that make Brutal Truth a head fuck are there - an endless bizarre mix of styles and tempos that will entertain even the most experimental grind nerd... so yes, very excited to smash and record. We have a little over thirty minutes written, and of course there will be odds and ends released here and there... either keep in touch here or the brutalfuckintruth.myspace page."

And drummer Rich Hoak announced the following on that brutalfuckintruth.myspace page: "I've been in the basement playing drums for 15-17 hours a day for the last 10 weeks: On October 6, Brutal Truth will begin recording at Watchmen Studios. We've have 24 new songs to choose from: "Grind Fidelity", "Evolution Through Revolution" and "Detached" are a few song titles."

Dimmu Borgir - Touring Line Up For Upcoming N. American Tour

Due to a recent addition to his family, Dimmu Borgir guitarist Galder will not be able to join the upcoming North American trek on Danzig's "Blackest Of The Black Tour.

States Dimmu Borgir guitarist Silenoz: "We have some new, temporary personnel on this tour. We needed an experienced live guitarist and found him in an old friend of mine and Galder: Cyrus of Susperia. We're happy he can step in and don't plan on giving him a hard time on the road."

Drumming duties on the "Blackest Of The Black Tour" will be handled by Daray (ex-Vader). According to Silenoz, "fans can perhaps expect a few surprises when it comes to the set list."

Psyopus - Announce New Vocalist

Psyopus have yet again (yes indeed, this is the second time they're announcing a new vocalist this year) found a new singer in Brian Woodruff. A statement from the band reads as follows:

"Psyopus is long overdue and happy to announce new vocalist Brian Woodruff into the band. If you've seen Psyopus at all since the beginning of our "Grinding Into Cataclysm" tour that began in August, you may have noticed the new face on the stage. Well, here is the explanation. After Harrison Christie's announced replacement, Matt Duckbirth, flaked out shortly after our press release of his joining the band, we replaced him with Brian. Brian was known as the vocalist from the Binghamton/Rochester, NY band As This Body, I Exist. We worked with him intensely, brought him into the studio and recorded the new album. This album was recorded with Brian. VERY shortly there after we jumped in the van and headed out for tour with War From A Harlots Mouth, Fuck The Facts and Left To Vanish.
Again, after the premature press release that Matt was joining our band, we wanted to make sure that Brian was indeed the kat for the band before we made it "official". We are now here to say that he is indeed the kat for the job. Be prepared for a notch up in the vocal brutality of Psyopus."

Malevolent Creation - Working On New Material

Guitarist Phil Fasciana of the long-running Florida extreme metallers Malevolent Creation has issued the following update:

"I know it has been some time since we have said much or updated things lately, but finally there are European tour dates posted on our MySpace page and there are more coming!!!!!

Also, after much consideration and long talks between the three original bandmembers of Malevolent Creation (Brett Hoffmann - vokills; Jason Blachowicz - bass; Phil Fasciana - lead guitar) we have to decided to stop fucking around!!!!

Just like all bands, we to have had our share of personal problems that have delayed things a bit. But we have to decided to continue touring around the world and after we return from our headlining tour of Europe with support from the mighty Vital Remains and our friends from Florida Wykked Wytch in December, we will start the pre-production for a shitload of new Malevolent Creation songs for our 11th full-length studio release.

We are also going to re-record some songs from our third CD, "Stillborn", and also record some very cool cover songs from some of our favorite bands when we were little metalheads. Of course, there will be no suprises or weak material involved with these recording sessions and we are seriously talking about writing the fastest album we have ever written. I know all our CDs have a lot of fast songs, but this time i think we really need to let loose and just kick some serious ass.

Not many bands have had the opportunity to have been around as long as we have, and everything could end at anytime. So before we decide to throw in the towel, we are gonna throw down the hardest Malevolent Creation album possible!!!!! The songs we have already started writing are so fast and brutal that we don't want to mess with energy we have already created."

Pink Floyd - Founding Member Dies At Age 65

Richard Wright, a founding member of the rock group Pink Floyd, died Monday. He was 65.

Pink Floyd's spokesman Doug Wright, who is not related to the artist, said Wright died after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. He says the band member's family did not want to give more details about his death.

Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason in college and joined their early band, Sigma 6. Along with the late Syd Barrett, the four formed Pink Floyd in 1965.

The group's jazz-infused rock and drug-laced multimedia "happenings" made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene, and their 1967 album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," was a hit.

In the early days of Pink Floyd, Wright, along with Barrett, was seen as the group's dominant musical force. The London-born musician and son of a biochemist wrote songs and sang.

The band released a series of commercially and critically successful albums including 1973's "Dark Side of the Moon," which has sold more than 40 million copies. Wright wrote "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Us And Them" for that album, and later worked on the group's epic compositions such as "Atom Heart Mother," "Echoes" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond."

But tensions grew between Waters, Wright and fellow band member David Gilmour. The tensions came to a head during the making of "The Wall" when Waters insisted Wright be fired. As a result, Wright was relegated to the status of session musician on the tour of "The Wall," and did not perform on Pink Floyd's 1983 album "The Final Cut."

Wright formed a new band Zee with Dave Harris, from the band Fashion, and released one album, "Identity," with Atlantic Records.

Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985 and Wright began recording with Mason and Gilmour again, releasing the albums "The Division Bell" and "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" as Pink Floyd. Wright also released the solo albums "Wet Dream" (1978) and "Broken China" (1996).

In July 2005, Wright, Waters, Mason and Gilmour reunited to perform at the "Live 8" charity concert in London ? the first time in 25 years they had been onstage together.

Wright also worked on Gilmour's solo projects, most recently playing on the 2006 album "On An Island" and the accompanying world tour.

Necrodeath - Line Up Switches

Italian blackened Thrash outfit Necrodeath have posted the following news update:

"After having collaborated in the building of "Draculea" and having been on tour around Italy and Europe during all 2006, guitarist "Pier" Gonella has definitely joined Necrodeath's line-up, now with 5 members, something new in the band so far.

In the meantime, bassist John, decided to leave the band after 10 years of hate and scorn. Soon the name of his substitute will be announced."

Drummer Marco "Peso" Pesenti commented: "It's a pleasure having Pier back to Necrodeath, this time as a stable member. His presence has already brought a fresh and bleeding energy to the band and the first compositions, in a total "old school" vein, are blooming. Stay tuned..."

Iron Fire - Busy Recording New Album

Iron Fire vocalist Martin Steene has posted the following studio update:

"We have been in the studio on and off for a couple of months now, and the new album is coming along great. Vocals are almost done now and guitar solos are being recorded every day at Kirk's place. This album will sure be our most dark and aggressive so far. I have been doing a lot of re-writing on lyrics in the recording process which I never do, to get it all to fit perfect with the darker feeling of the album. But don't fear, it all still sounds like Iron Fire just with a twist of darkness. Things are sounding better then ever at this point and cant wait for the mix, witch will take place at Jailhouse studio with good old Tommy Hansen in start October.

Eric Phillipe is once again working on the cover design and it's gonna be exiting to see what master piece he can come up with this time. The title of the album is not yet decided but it's not gonna be Thunderstorm part 2."

Here are some of the song titles so far:

The Beast From The blackness
Doom Riders
The Demon Master
Hail To Odin
March Of The Immortals

Iron Fire are still looking for a replacement for guitarist Johan Jacob who left earlier this year.
