Nile - Release New Single And Lyric Video
The death metal machine that is Nile has chosen today to show us a new song. Why complain? We can just bow down to the overwhelming brutality and enjoy the lyric video for the brand new 6-minute track entitled "Call To Destruction". The song will appear, of course, on the band's new opus, What Should Not Be Unearthed, which will be released on August 28th via Nuclear Blast. Go get it if you like what you hear.
Mastermind Karl Sanders states about the song: "'Call To Destruction' should leave no doubt as to the explicit and extreme nature of the new Nile album. These are some of our heaviest yet memorable tracks ever. The violence contained in every aspect of Call to Destruction is echoed, through many varieties and creative permutations of Heaviness and Brutality, throughout the entire What Should Not Be Unearthed disc. The inspiration for the song itself comes from news reports in 2012 - when radical Clerics were calling for the destruction of Egypt's Pyramids. Most of the lyrics to 'Call To Destruction' are actual direct quotes from the words of Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud - whose eloquence and quote-ability are clearly second-to-none. While this lyric video is filled with many images of violence and destruction of Historical artifacts culled from common everyday newsreel imagery, its message is to communicate the insanity and futility of war as a tragic result of the clash of ideologies. This video's sole purpose is to bring attention to the wanton destruction of Artifacts in the middle east. None of the members of Nile in any way endorse any political or religious agenda with this video; Nile as students of Egyptian History are concerned about the preservation of the cultures of all peoples of our Greater Global Community."

Nile are one of my favorite bands, at least for death metal, but I just find little to no appeal in this at all. If you're speaking within the context of all death metal, I guess it really isn't too shabby, but I mean... we're talking about Nile here. Black Seeds Of Vengeance Nile. In Their Darkened Shrines Nile. And this just sounds more like mainstream death metal to me than it does like Nile, and something about those lyrics just feels a lot more juvenile and uninspired than some of the other shit I know Karl Sanders is capable of writing. I'd put this around the same quality as TWTGD and ATGOS... which translates to pretty substandard. And although this is just one track, and it might be too early to judge, I don't see how this is in any way a return to the sound of Annihilation Of The Wicked, like they were going on about.

Again Nile takes on the subject most are afraid to touch. Not many other bands are willing to touch that and focus on a "safer" target like Christianity. Westboro Baptist church is not nearly as threatening as Islamic extremists.

Actually liked it, maybe because I could read the lyrics, maybe not, but there is something good about this song despite the fact that is a pretty standard delivery of brutality by Nile.

I really liked it! Actually I liked At the Gates of Sethu too.. frankly speaking I like all the albums without exceptions. And the August is fucking total death metal month! !! Cattle decapitation, Krisiun, Nile, Hate eternal.. that's awesome! !!
