"Angra South American influences". What the heck is that means?.
Angra is a band from Brasil, nothing to do with the rest of the continent.

Another great guitarist underused. Just sounds like boring MegaDave, business as usual.

I laughed so hard when the bass part ended and the guitars and drums came crashing in. It was like "oh, Ellefson seems to be having a good ti- ...where'd he go?"
Song's better than I expected though, but not getting excited over this.

Due to their official site, there will be only 11 tracks on the album - just scratch Look Who's Talking & Last Dying Wish out

Interesting. I wonder if the rest of the album is similarly old school.

iTunes shows all 13 though, so I'm not sure if that's an error or what.

European power metal bands have a signature sound. US power metal bands have a sound of their own. Angra, being Brazilian has always had that South American twist to their music. Be it the drum sound or the guitars. As Kiko is from Brazil I though he might have brought some of this sound to the song. Maybe he will on another track if Dave lets him.
Brasil sound is one thing, you cannot say that the whole South American continent is the same shit.
Angra has BRASILIAN influences, South America is big my friend, every country has its own folk style.

On second listen I just noticed that they want to be soo classic Megadeth, it's almost happening. Might be the best record from them since Countdown.

He didn't say it was the "same shit". It's the same thing as saying "Euro Power Metal", I don't think bands from Germany, Finland or Spain sound at all familiar, but they are described as "Euro Power Metal". He's not saying every band from South America sounds the same, but he's completely right in saying "South American influences". Understand the difference before getting so pointlessly defensive. It's so easy to hear Angra and know straight away that they are neither "US power metal" or "Euro power metal", so we would say they were Brazilian or South American. Semantics eh?

Thank you. You got it. I didn't realize that a fairly innocuous comment would cause some debate on geographical genres. I'm not the most PC person in the world so stupidly I thought Angra were South American. I won't make that mistake again. Too much Jeremy Clarkson for me. Damn Top Gear.
They are South American , if anyone says otherwise just throw a globe at them.

Yeah?, then describe me the sound of the so called "South American Power Metal".
As far as I know it doesnt exist, you have some Brasilians bands adding some folk elements but nothing more. No other country has a South American sound trademark.

Na. I'll just keep using the term to annoy you since you don't seem to understand what I was saying.
Angra - South American Power Metal

This is the best thing they've release in a long, long time.
I'm pretty sure the fact that it doesn't have atypical song structuring is what makes it great.

Fatal Illusion sounds like mix of United abominations, a little bit of The system has failed and Peace sells. Very similar to song Amerikhastan (United abominations). It appears that Dave's voice will never be the same... neverthless this song sounds very good can't wait for the new album!

The only good thing about new song is drumming. It's Chris Adler who is behind the kit. Rest everything is meh.

This is okay. I don't like the vocal effects in the beginning though. Kinda hope the rest of the album is better.

Compared to Megadeth's latest 2-3 albums, this is great.
EDIT: make that 2. "Endgame" was not that bad.
