The Agonist - Join Napalm Records, In The Studio

When bands sign deals with new labels, it usually means new releases are coming. That is also the case for The Agonist as they are preparing a new album to follow Eye Of Providence. However, it will be released worldwide under Napalm Records, their new label. They are currently in the studio recording the new album with producer Mike Plotnikoff (Otep, Like A Storm, Escape The Fate, Halestorm, Drowning Pool, Fear Factory, Flyleaf, and more).

Guitarist Danny Marino comments: "We are thrilled to start the next chapter of The Agonist with Napalm Records! Since recording Eye Of Providence, we have been exploding with creativity and are set to record our best record to date. We've been working non-stop on the material on and off the road and now after four albums we have really found ourselves.

"Vicky Psarakis and I seem to operate on a hive mind where we know exactly what the other is going for in the writing before it happens. It can actually be freaky sometimes. We are also very excited to be recording this album with Mike Plotnikoff. His experience and input will really help take our sound to a new level."

New producer might change things up, but their latest album was not very good. It was passable, but it felt super stale and manufactured compared to Lullabies and Prisoners, my two favorite albums of all time. Alissa was the one that brought life into the band and made the music sound organic.

I'm glad to hear that Vicky is a great fit for the band, though. She wasn't a bad replacement for Alissa by any means.
