Dokken - Classic Lineup Reunites

The classic lineup of American metallers Dokken will reunite for 6 shows in Japan. Frontman Don Dokken confirmed the rumours that he and longtime drummer Mick Brown have booked a handful of Japanese shows with former guitarist George Lynch and bassist Jeff Pilson. However, this reunion will be short-lived. Money convinced them to reunite temporarily.

Don Dokken said on The Classic Metal Show: "I approached George and Jeff, and I said, 'You guys wanna make a s?load of money for about one week of work?' And I told them the price, and I told them how much I wanted and how much they'd make, and, basically, they could make more money in one week than they'd probably make in several years. And so everybody said, 'Okay,'So I said, 'Well, I'll do it on the condition that I don't wanna do it in America or Europe or anywhere else. Just six shows in Japan.' 'Cause we were very big in Japan, and it's just a reunion tour. So they agreed, and we're gonna do six shows in Japan."

He added: "I feel bad for my agents, 'cause they're getting bombarded from these offers for us to play these big festivals all over the world as a reunion, but I'm just not interested. I'm sorry, I'm just not. Jeff's busy. He plays like crazy in Foreigner. He's on the road. George is out, you know, playing the bars with Lynch Mob, so everybody's busy."

Probably because this band retains an unusual big fanbase there. Since the fall of glam, they've remained relatively popular in Japan. GnR is 20 times bigger than Dokken though. GnR, wherever it will go, it will fill up venues and stadiums. Dokken nope. I saw them last year in Bulgaria and they were boring. The crowd was also kinda small.

Well lets face it, this Dokken lineup couldn't survive a summer together on a reunion tour, it's been stated before. At least they're doing this in Japan cause the money is there....which is what Don has always been about anyway. THAT is the real reason why Dokken will never do a true US reunion tour, because Don wants everyone to play as a temporary hired gun at whatever rate he wants to pay. Truth is as Don stated, the guys are all busy doing other stuff, so it's best to leave it that way.
