That's... unexpected. The song is OK but still I'm a little worried. No Martin Barre and Anderson's voice is... well, gone. He can sing some lighter songs like this single but not something heavier.

I like the song. But at this point, this is not Jethro Tull, it's Ian with 4 other musicians. Having checked the line-up, I don't know anyone, the names don't ring any bells.
I will listen to this when it comes out, I have listened to their albums after all.

Ther're all from Anderson's solo band. I saw them on "Homo Erraticus" tour - they were good. They all played in Jethro Tull when Ian revived the band. Still Jethro Tull was always Ian + Martin. Without the guitarist it's Ian solo work but under Tull's moniker.

No Clive Bunker = No Jethro Tull
But seriously, this indeed looks to be just Ian Anderson disguised as Jethro Tull. I most likely wont be checking it out, as their last few albums have been weak.

I guess he has the right to use the name and most likely he'll get more attention under the JTull banner.

Still it's a dick move if it's true that they had agreed in 2011 that Jethro Tull was finished.

How can they be a "legend" in their early days when they were trying to build an audience. They became legendary for their work in their first 10 years or so. Not their early days. It was their 4th album that made them reach a wider audience after all.

I mean looking in retrospective it was early when they have so many albums now. To be precise, yes, they weren't legendary back then, but if we ask who remembers the band for their early works and who for their later works, I think we can see that the early works made JT achieve the legend status.

Can't wait to hear this future piece of innovating black metal masterpiece that will challenge all expectations. Oh yes Jhetro Tull is ready to shock the world as much as Pink Floyd did in 1979 during The Wall era.

Imagine if they released a song like "Aqualung" today, a song about a pedophile watching kids in a playground! That would be considered shocking nowadays, but back then it was a great song, and nobody thought anything of it.

Who told you it's great?
If the single was the album opener, it's the only interesting song on the album, having some energy.
The rest of the album is a mellow, no oomph, bland affair. The Beatles tribute song is a cringe fest.
The ARW live album that was released a couple of years ago was really good. They should do a studio album just to stick it to Steve Howe.

One thing I don't get is why would they wait until January to release it?
It would have been wiser if they released it in December that way they could sell more copies during the holiday.
