Lumsk - Join Forces With Dark Essence Records
Norway's folk prog rockers Lumsk and Dark Essence Records are pleased to announce that they have inked a brand new contract. The band's fourth full-length album, the successor to 2007's Det Vilde Kor, has been a while in the making, with Lumsk entering the studio as early as 2010 to begin work on Fremmede Toner, a collection of poems by Norwegian author Andre Bjerke. After a series of setbacks and delays, work on Fremmede Toner is well underway, scheduled for release in 2022. More info in due time.
Today's line-up, which, following a myriad of comings and goings over the years since Lumsk's inception, is comprised of Mari Klingen on vocals, Siv Lena Laugtug Sæther on violin, Eystein Garberg on guitars, Roar Grindheim on guitars, Espen Warankov Godø on keyboards, Espen Hammer on bass, and Vidar Berg on drums.

17th january on FB' A short summery of the last days. Wednesday: Since most of the bands recording is done, and have been recorded in several different studios, we had to add everything in Rhys's (soundengineer) studio sessions. Then Mathias, poet and childhood friend of Espen H, came and started laying down som male vocals on two song. Must admit that it felt awesome to finally come to this stage, that we where recording vocals. Mathias did his vocals, we drank coffee and the "studio humor" appeared quickly. Just how studio life should like. Later that day Mari came to town. Thursday: Mari started her work Thursday morning. Just jumped straight into it. And before the day was over, she had recorded 4 songs, as well adding some backing vocals on some of them. We where all a bit suprised how well it went this day. Friday: Today's plan was to try out some ideas we came up with the day before, and continue the work. Siv Lena where doing the last violin recordings in a different studio, just outside Trondheim. Well.... when the day come to an end.. Mari where done with all her vocals. What would we be doing the next couple of days? Saturday: The finishing touches! Mathias came and took a few more takes on some parts. And we went thru all the recordings and made decisions on which of the different variations we should use. Siv Lena did her final touches as well. Later that day Eystein came by and had a listen also. Sunday: We took the day off. 😁 What's left? Well, vocals on 4 songs. Who will not be recorded in Norway 🤭 .. And mixing, mastering etc etc. Enjoy the day. And We'll come back with more news about the progress later on. -Lumsk-
