Does anyone else have this feeling that metalstorm more and more becomes a PR-website for Hellfest? More often than not when I open the page i'm greeted by a Hellfest banner and today there were two as the top news was also Hellfest-related. I might be the only one here but I don't think that the fact that one contributor to a website works for a festival justifies this much amount of advertising for a single event while said website (at least that was my impression) tries to provide an unbiased view to the scene. I don't have a grudge against the Hellfest (or any other event for that matter) but I am interested in metalstorm, to which we all provide reviews and stuff keeps a neutral stand in the business.

Written by corrupt on 02.11.2009 at 17:43 MS still keeps a neutral stand in the business whatsoever. Don't worry. But we try to be professional when we handle our "dirty businesses". Which means quid pro quo. We get something from them, we offer them something in return. And I think MS gets a lot done from Hellfest (the fact a MS'er works for Hellfest now has nothing to with that), so it's pretty normal they get some exposure. Besides MS also gets exposure and advertising from Hellfest in return. That's part of being in an official partnership; it works two ways. By the way, we also announced ticket sales for other festivals in our news before, like Bloodstock and Dutch Doom Days.

I would like to add that Metal Storm is an official Hellfest partner (like Terrorizer and some other companies as well) that means the MS-logo plus webaddress is featured on all Hellfest advertisements that get published in mags, our name is also printed on the festival posters etc etc. Metal Storm gets loads of exposure that way plus we also always get loads of passes as well as some tickets to give away by means of a competition etc etc. So it works both ways, we get exposure and so does Hellfest. Btw also pay loads of attention through news articles to festivals such as Wacken, Graspop, Metalcamp, Bloodstock and smaller festivals such as Dutch Doom Days etc etc.

Just on a side note, it would be cool if there were more promotion for festivals like Maryland Death Fest so more Americans and Europeans would know about it. Great bands this year.
