Best BM drummer

It is a hard battle, and the result might need a photo-finish, but who is you favorite BM drummer?
Judge by: speed, versatility, dominance or any other thiong you want
My personal favorite is Hellhammer, I don't know exactly why, but everytime I listen to his drumming I get insanly "Black metalish"...

Imma say frost, i love his work with satyricon (don't know much 1349 other then 1 album so i can't say much about him there, heh)

Where the hell is Horgh of Immortal? My vote goes to him because hes a BEAST at what he does and he has the best blast beats ever

From the list, Hellhammer. what he did on Ordo Ad Chao is amazing tbh. technical, yet atmospheric.

but overall the best BM drummer is DSO's, whoever he(she?) is. too bad he ruins the music whit his exquisite technique.

I'm almost completely positive that Mikko does the drumming.

Anyways, I can't decide who to vote for yet. Asbath from Darkestrah is fucking tight, but I'm sure I'll pick someone else when I think about it sober

I'll say Adrian Erlandsson.

By the way, I'm sorry for all the drummers I did not write about, if I would write all BM drummers ever I'll need much more than 8 options...I wrote the first few that came to my mind (I was listening to these bands when I posted this...)

Well I think Frost is the best technically, but I prefer Fenriz and I think his style is more appropriate for BM.

His work on the first 2 Darkthrone albums (starting from the BITNS) is pure old school black metal, I love the simplicity of it but there are some quite original moments there as well.

I vote Hellhammer, who is also one my favourite overall.

From the list I voted Hellhammer but overall I prefer Reidar "Horgh" Horghagen from Immortal.

I chose others.. because I personally respect Bard G. "Faust" Eithun more than other drummers not only in Black Metal, in all genres. His latest work with Aborym was just amazing.. He's genius, fast and technical.. I like him.

The only drummer I don't like from the list is Hellhammer. He does his best to ruin Mayhem's debut album by just showing off as much as possible and while his playing is awesome, it's totally inapproporiate for the music sometimes, and thus crap.

I kind of agree with the showing off a bit, but I do like most of his work, you can't take one songalbum and base his entire career on it, if you do Frost should be thrown from the list for "Now, Diabolical" which is really, really not BM, to me anyway...

I voted for Hellhammer, although I was kinda in doubts between choosing him or Immortal's Horgh...both are definitely in the top of black metal drummers in my opinion.

He meant McGovern, thats why he wrote they aren't true black metal, BUT...

Good list though man! I won't rag on any of this. There are definitely way too many too add, but you added some worthwhile fellows.

My vote went with Hellhammer, and its the exact same reason as Damnated. If you haven't heard 'Ordo Ad Chao' yet... you're a lost soul. The drumming is erractic and out of control, spontaneous and in piece at the same time. This is so far, the best demonstration of Hellhammer's capabilities.

I also voted for Hellhammer, his drumming is just really damn good. Dont get me wrong, the other guys on the list are pretty damn good too, but Hellhammer in my opinion is just one insane bastard behind the drums.

I think Behemoth 's Inferno is the best : he's fast as hell and his drumming on the last album is awesome.
Seen him live 3 times and could not stop watching him.:bow:
