When I put on this album I heard it will be something good , its equal good quality metal, some weeker songs some stronger, but good, seems this is why ppl say VS kick ass, why its ''epic'' I need listen next one but so far seems its birth of VS , epic VS

Yeah here it's more evident, but I see the birth of VS sound already on "Noble Savage" on a lesser scale.

The album somehow reminds me a lot of Manowar actually. Mainly because of the vocals of DeFeis and Adams being similar, but there's more to it.

Great album, best so far in terms of song writing ("The Burning Of Rome", "Perfect Mansions" and "Serpent's Kiss"). Same issue with fillers as the previous album had though.

Yeah this is a excellent one. Some questionable songs in Stay on Top and Seventeen but the rest is real nice stuff. Love the production and the guitar tone is sweet. Edward Pursino does a great job on this record, delivering some great leads. Also need to add that the cover of Desert Plains is one of my favourite covers, Virgin Steele made it their own and even surpassed the original.

I own probably all Virgin Steeles albums on cd, except this one, which is kind of stupid and needs to be fixed (note to self...) EDIT: so I owned it afterall.

Need to add that this rating is based on the reissue version. The original version would probably be a 8.

The songwriting skills of David DeFeis never cease to amaze me. The man just knows what's cool. The Burning Of Rome alone is a good reason to get this album, it pulls every possible right string imagunable with this kind of stuff, but the other ones aren't any bad either. The only downside here is somewhat weak late 80's production (minus the guitar tone) and the singing of DeFeis himself, which matured and got notably better between this and the first Marriage.
