After an album called The Gallery, which has been defined the mere masterpiece of this band and of the entire Gothenburg scene by a lot of critics and reviewers, one of the greatest bands ever returned with a new album. The title has two meanings if we think about the words in another way: The I of the Mind / I Am the Mind. The CD cover is strange: there are pieces of animals, plants, blood,a piece of paper, atoms and obviously the DT logo; all connected to the psychologic subject.

It's not easy to describe how I feel about this album. It contains my all-time favourite Dark Tranquillity songs, such as Hedon and Insanity's Crescendo, but, on the other hand, the songs are similar in their style to the ones from "The Gallery", while not as memorable.

One word quickly comes to mind when listening to this album and seeing 8.1 rating here. It's underrated.
First 3 albums are already way better than whole At the Gates discography, OK, that is The Gallery alone. Vocals alone are a lot more ear friendly.

This was a decent album, but it's far from their best imo, it was the last use of their original twin guitar style, before they opted for the keyboard and synth approach. The album was also their most raw and edgy produced imo, it didn't have the same quality sound as The Gallery or Damage Done, neither was it as good in the songwriting department, but it isn't at all bad by any means, some of their heaviest and best riff work features on this album, even if the the songwriting itself is nothing special.

"Hedon", "Still Moving Sinews", and "Insanity's Crescendo", are the main highlights for me.
