There comes a time in your life in which you don't know what path you're following, what awaits you, why you're behaving in a certain way, or when all will become clear. You don't know what to believe in. Well, don't worry, says the latest Alter Bridge work: it all ends well. Alter Bridge, by the way, seem to not be touched by these problems: their ideas and programs shine now, clearer than ever.
Honest to my soul, I found this boring, extremely boring. I don't know why but it sounds like hellish repetitive and irritating overused drumming in it. I was expecting an explosion out of this new record. But, then we should wait and watch how this turn up...

Not particularly. I was never a big fan of AB, but I enjoyed the occasional song. This wasn't one of those occasional songs, unfortunately.
One can check out a Loudwire Premiere of the entire release. I find that as a whole, much more listenable than ATP as a single. "Lover" is a slower paced, more harmonized bit, highlighting Kennedy's vocals. However; if you didn't prefer aspects of "Addicted to Pain", you might feel the same about "Bleed it Dry".
Seriously though, really impressive album here. Suffers a tiny bit from "same-sound" syndrome with some of the songs, but the composition is top-notch!

I don't really consider them to be "metal", hard rock for sure. Marcel likes to argue that "hard rock" IS "metal", but I disagree, otherwise there would be no "hard rock" and "metal", there would only be "metal". But I have come to agree that hard rock is close enough in it's ties to metal to warrant activating hard rock bands on MS.
There's never been a better moment to add Alter Bridge to MS. Review coming soon.
Quite agreed - recently acquired shows at Wembley 2012, Rock Am Ring 2011, Amsterdam 2009 as well as this release. I personally prefer the live performance, such as the aforementioned and say, Milan 2008, but 'Fortress' has much appeal after repeated listenings.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but I'm not getting the hype. Whole album sounded pretty generic and all the tracks pretty well blended together for me.
I only listened to the track linked here but I dig it a lot. Maybe I should check this album out.
Also while it is not so prevailent in this thread, I've seen lots of debate regarding whether this band is metal or not. Based on that track, musically it definitely sounds metal to me, only the vocals carry a significant alt rock tinge.

I think you should try again, even though I agree with you to a point. I'm particularly referring to a few songs on the first half of the album; not every group similar to these guys is influenced by one of your favourite bands, and it totally works
Mixed & Matched !
Boring...............
Heavy Metal Guitar & Bass + Hard Rock Vocals & Drums = Still Not A Good Band
Considering most of that isn't really true, I'd say it's pretty obvious you're giving this a 4 to knock it off the charts.
Shame on you, filthy degenerate.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to rate the bands that they're obviously biased against. If you don't like/understand the band's style, then why rate. It's clear that you're never going to like anything they do.

- Not fair for me as I am not good at telling white lies. I did not try to do anything bad here.
- Blues-influenced hard rock vocal skills are what Kennedy good at..., not this screaming metal style, obviously he did not cope well, he needs time for the changes.
- Guitarist's "heard-before riffs" also made me felt like pressing the stop button for several times...however against all odds, I managed to got through all those hardship and finally i finished listening to the whole album.
- Many Ratings were more than 7 has proven the dropping standards of the listeners nowadays.
I keep coming back to this one. Almost all the songs are very good, and have their own identity --- as in they don't all sound the same. Definitely worth giving a spin.
I've never really heard this band before. Why does that name make me think of some shitty radio rock? (not insulting the band, I literally haven't listened to them yet).

The line-up is basically Creed minus Scott Stapp, so maybe that's where you get the impression. It's more ambitious than your average radio rock though, Creed included.
