Yeah, new song sounds good. Hoping for something equal to Noregs Vaapen.

No banjo, but somehow they make up for it with another good album, picking up where the previous one left off.

It says a lot about someone's music when they only thing people ever mention these days is a few seconds of banjo playing.

Yep. Not that Taake's bad, but it is so goddamned bog standard. Compare it in that sense to Gorgoroth.

Yeah Taake are indeed better than Gorgoroteh but just as standard. And to be honest Taake have been stale to me with everything after Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik.

Damnit, I just now see that my colleague Neithan over at Lords Of Metal has awarded the latest Taake with 95/100. I'd better exchange some harsh words with him coming Friday over at Eindhoven Metal Meeting.

Over Bjoergvin... is the one I always go to if I feel in the mood for Taake. Can't say I ever feel compelled to go to the others really.

I often notice some surprising scores over at LoM that I can tell you would heavily disagree with haha.

I would definitely say that Hordaland Doedskvad is Taake's magnum opus, but I also love their first two albums. I quite enjoy this one as well. Like you guys said, they're pretty damn standard, but something about the energy they exude gets me going. I also found this band when I was 12, and have listened to them since, so it might just be a nostalgia thing

Everything rated by Vera I disagree with hahahaha she on avergae has about 4 to 5 90+ scores each month and also about 10 80+ scores.

But the 90+ for Taake by Neithan doesn't surprise me. If it is Norwegian BM he will always score it high. I am sure he is getting senile at his 47 years of age
For orthodox black it's best to follow Kevin Kentie over at Lords imo (he is a band member of Verbum Verus, Funeral Goat, Abysmal Darkening). A good addition he is to the team. Only been part of it for about 6 months now.
And for avantgarde blak I more or less trust Martin and for Norwegian black Roel de Haan.

Like, 10 seconds of banjo =P it's like listening to Benighted if you want a hit of hip-hop or flamenco haha.

And yes, banjo being absent leaves this album with nothing special to offer. Solid but kind of boring.

Funny how people keep on mentioning the banjo on the previous album as if it was an integral part of it.

I like how none of the major metal news sites, at least the ones I check on, made any mention that this had been released. Jerks. I will have to check this out. I liked this last one, but I wasn't really drooling over it like a lot of people. I prefer Noregs Vaapen.

There were plenty of December releases that they covered prior to the holidays. Also, they have yet to make any mention post-holidays either.

Hoest always inovative. But I can't find best song in this album. Really butt hurt

I don't know why, but I really like the atmosphere this album creates (nordic). I can't really explain it lol

En Sang Til Sand Om Ildebrann and Gamle Noring they are my favourites on this album

I still have to listen to this....
