I know there are a lot of Helloween fans here. They're probably my absolute favourite power metal band of all time. I love how they can produce the serious songs and then make songs such as 'Perfect Gentleman'. Like most fans, I perfer the Kiske/Hansen albums to the more recent ones. I think Deris' voice is more suited for a heavy metal band TBH. Though it is still enjoyable to listen to him.

What are your thoughts on this band?

Helloween's career more or less has something for everybody. The earliest stuff is almost thrashy (though a whole lot cleaner and clearer than any actual thrash material), then there's straight-forward power metal with the Keeper albums, then... well, then a few mistakes that are probably not worth discussing.

The Andi Deris lineup certainly isn't Kiske's Helloween, but I think it's something that's still really strong and distinctive. Helloween continued to evolve rather than dying off after Chameleon, and continue to record good music. Helloween without Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske certainly sound different, as do Kiske's and Hansen's post-Helloween projects, but it's definitely a good kind of different. I think they remain innovators, or, if not innovators, at least Helloween have remained an interesting and exciting band, distinguishing themselves from the hordes of bands that sound exactly like Helloween did during the Keeper era. It must be flattering to know that you've invented a genre, but I can't help but wonder how they feel about the hordes of bands who didn't take Helloween's next cue to evolve into a new, exciting strain of music.

Yes, the change in their music is another reason to love the band. Not enough power metal bands these days have variation.

Of course, Helloween is a classic, and for a good reason, they're amazing. A few friends of mine and I are absolutely obsessed with Mrs. God .

What do you all think is the best album featuring Andi Deris? I ask because Kiske era Helloween is pretty much going to be nothing but "Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part II" because... well... it is the power metal album by which all other power metal albums are wrought. It is THE album.

For my part, I don't really know if I can choose. I have a bad habit of listening to choice cuts from everything without giving the albums a spin in the proper context, so it all just gets mixed up in my head, or I listen to so many albums back to back I get a little mixed up as to where one ends and the next begins... damn you, MP3 player!

Give me a song, and I can dissect its every delicious little perfection. But an entire career is tricky, especially since I haven't heard Pink Bubbles Go Ape or Chameleon... for obvious reasons. But I also haven't heard Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy yet... shame on me

You should definitely check out their latest. It probably is Deris' best, although I'm partial to many songs on 'The Dark Ride'. I guess it's the album where Deris' experiments with his vocals the most.

My fav Helloween albums are one of each singer, so Walls, Keepers II and The Dark Ride. About the Kiske vs. Deris debate, I just say that Deris has a voice that fits better to the style of Helloween, but Kiske has a MUCH better voice...

And strangely, I began hearing Deris-era, so at first I loved The Dark Ride, but later I discovered how old Helloween is MUCH better... specially Keepers II. Get the remixes while you can, Savage is a hell of a song!

Helloween is one of my favs ...I adore their music, but I like Deris's voice...it's suit for a heavy metal band, true true ... guess that's why I like Deris better ... the lyrics are great but the music is better

Helloween are pretty cool, eh? I have "Walls of Jericho" and all their Keeper albums. I haven't really listened to the Keeper albums yet (shame on me), but I dig WoJ because I like thrashy power metal. Does anyone know if the remastered version (which I have) is just digitally remastered or recorded new (maybe with Deris)?

I've heard so much about this band that i decided to get some cds, im satisfied so far. they have a long carrier and that longevity can only mean success, i suppose they wouldnt be able to release so many cd if it didnt sell. I love his voice, typical power metal but i like it. I need to get more cds though so that i wont base my opinion on just 1 or 2 projects.

I'm a bit surprised to find that not many people are too familiar with them. But to those people, I suggest checking out The Keeper Of The Seven Keys albums, both of them are great.

'The Time Of The Oath' is one of my favorites as well
to be honest, i dont listen to the 'Keeper...' albums much.. the last Helloween album i listened to was 'Better Then Raw'

'The Dark Ride' is also a brilliant album for anyone to be getting into them with and 'Rabbit Don't Come Easy' and 'Pink Bubbles Go Ape' are also favorites of mine after them albums, but not many other people seem to like them two as much

Well, You're gonna hate me, but I don't really like Helloween. I recognize them as the creators of power metal, and that is simply great. But I don't really enjoy their albums, I don't know why. I saw Andy in Shaaman's DVD Ritualive and his voice is fucked. They're not so kick ass nowadays

I love this band, everything they've ever done, but I just can't get into the 2 newest ones. They've really lost their edge, but I guess you can't expect them to keep perfection sustained over a 20-year span, right? I'm glad they burnt out and at least got some recognition, I just hope that the people who are just discovering them will listen to their older stuff, rather than the new.

i really liked 'Rabbit Dont Come Easy' and the latest album too - but latley i think i would enjoy 'Rabbit Dont Come Easy' more if i listened t that over the latest album
i mean i like the latest one, but i think they should have taken some one the worse songs out and put it all on one disk, then i would be high quality throughout and a lot better
oh well

The 1st song just a little sign is powerful! but i like this last album, the legacy, not to compare with the old ones, but the best since dark ride. Andi deris knows how to drive helloween, but i like more weikath than the others guitarist that passed for helloween. Oh, the bes pet is the pumpkin, best than eddie or bomber...jejejejeje, well as eddie no, but the better of the power metal!
