Power metal / heavy metal from Sweden. Really solid record from start to finish which surprised me, given the length of the album. With a lot of power metal albums I've heard this year, I kind of lost interest after the 30 - 40 minute mark. Not with this one though.

Tab clearing: Fallen Empire demo re-release. Lo-fi black. Arnaut Pavle Dan Swa... Rogga Johansson Swedish OSDM. Rogga Johansson Rather good sounding thrash-ish, black-ish death. Technical, old-school but relevant. Inoculation Posted this in the SB but I think it's gonna be great. Simple, but highly effective death doom that just sounds satisfying. Nightfell Tchornobog repped this, related to them somehow I think. Black metal. In The Court Of A Broken Flesh Standard but high quality Iron Bonehead OSDM. Sempiternal Dusk Bonus dark ambient / drone split that sounds nice. Many Blessings New Culted. Should be decent blackened doom. Very decent tech-death but with more Swedish death style vocals. Nice art by Jef Whitehead too. Cognizance

Argentinian heavy metal. This album has a very nice old school vibe to it. Excellent vocals, nice guitar melodies, and solid (classic sounding) production. One of those records that I see myself listening to on a regular basis. Heavy metal/stoner metal from South Africa. Filled with nice gritty/groovy riffs, pounding drums and charismatic vocals. Lots of hints to classic rock 'n roll as well. I really like the title track, it shows exactly all the things you can expect from this record.

I'm always posting mostly argentinian goodies but sorry, can't help it. Yet another album from Marcos Agüero (the argentinian Mories?) and it is amazing as expected. Cosmic black metal this time around.

Two Mahr EP slipped out and nobody told me. Already on the site but putting it here anyway. Mahr A new Voidsphere too. Voidsphere And for completionist purposes here's the new HWWAUOCH seeing as it's not on the site yet. It's fine and decent, but compared to the debut a bit disappointing. The debut had crazy levels of aggression but also a lot of variety, whereas this one just feels a bit muted. HWWAUOCH Excellent sounding I, Voidhangar black / death. Haunter Lo-fi, blackened psychedelia. Dodenbezweerder Ultra-downtuned, dissonant death / grind. Spurn New Coffins. Coffins Decent, competent black. I just really like the art. Gnosis Oscuridad Caos

More Arnaut Pavle from Mystikaos, this time a new full length debut. First-class Darkthrone of old worsihp. Arnaut Pavle New upcoming Sleep Terror, so expect more instrumental death-prog. Sleep Terror Brutal, no name black metal from Terratvr Posessions. And then lots of nice sounding things on Iron Bonehead's Soundcloud (grim), including a new Ancient Moon and the brilliant Pa Vesh En. Hagzissa sound great as well.

This is absolute quality. Can't really be bothered to explain it but it's just some damn fine, percussively interesting black metal with maybe a hint of death. Nice, neutral, often offbeat and sprawling sound. Arghast

Very nice metallic crust-punk. Geist Languorous, melancholic and underproduced ambient / atmospheric black, with sick art. Oneiric Eclipse Super-fast, breakneck black / death / thrash, with nice bouts of melody (and great art again) Anticosm Pretty fun, chunky and surprisingly melodic super-group death metal (Funebrarum, Excruciate, ex-Bolt Thrower members).

New Gatecreeper sounds like it'll be some very solid OSDM. Gatecreeper From the one track this could easily be one of the strongest sludge releases this year. Pleasing angular dissonance and moments of layered, quieter terror. Opium Lord

Not sure if a 10 minute track album counts as a single or an EP but well, the important thing is that it is an amazing track. More-melodic-than-you'd-probably-like-it-to-be black metal from Switzerland.

2 stoner records I listened to recently. First one is from Brazil. Lots of nice riffs throughout this record. Second one is from a band I had heard before. I listened to their debut 2 years ago which was already a solid record and I think this one is an improvement on that one.
