Featuring four songs that were part of the astounding debut EP, Deliver Us, the album And The Cannons Of Destruction Have Begun... is nothing less than monumental. Combining the skilful drumming of Mark Zonder, who would later join Fates Warning, and the goosebumps-inducing guitar melodies of Bill Tsamis that were brimming with lyricism, it is the perfect heavy metal album. The term 'underrated' is often used and is rarely as justified as in this band's case. Warlord never received commercial success, although they thoroughly deserved it. To quote Mark Zonder: "Not taking anything away from any of the great artists that I have had the honor and privilege to play with over the years, but I can say without thinking twice Bill was the most talented and dedicated guy I ever met. Obviously great musician, the world knows that, but just a great guy to hang with. Funny and very intelligent. One of the most humble people you would meet. Very matter of fact but never over the line and never handing out BS. Just straight up. Without Bill Tsamis and Warlord I have no idea of where I would be today. This was the beginning and I owe him everything. Thank you for showing me the way."

If you have never listened to this album, it is never too late to discover one of the masterpieces of heavy metal. If you already know it, play it once more to honour this great guitarist's memory. And don't forget to check out his other band, Lordian Guard.

Rest in peace, Mr. Tsamis. The cannons of destruction will never cease, the music lives forever.

Aliens and soliloquy are one of my favorites songs especially soliloquy for the lyrics and for the keybords of course. Rick Cunningham (Damien King II) was not singing perfectly on key, but i must say that his vocals fits perfectly in songs like solilioquy and aliens. Anyway i like his vocals and this album is a materpiece. I think this album is better than Deliver Us ''EP'' just because of the videos from each song! This is a must for all true metalheads!

Well, this surely is a great ass album. The band must have mustered all their better songs they'd got at this point and put them on this record; and no fillers allowed! And IMO the EP's songs sound better here.

One can't avoid the thought, that what this album would be if 1st Damian was on the vocals, can one?

A real classic heavy metal album, so enjoyable, with super catchy songs, and excellent songwriting, it's just as good as Riot Thundersteel imo.

Yeah, this is really a great album. And it is so great to really (properly) listen to this album for the first time ever today. Only rarely happens to me any more that I discover such an overwhelming album from this era. More so it feels good to be rewarded for going through all the mediocre albums I come across on my way.
Highlights for me here are Child Of The Damned, Deliver Us From Evil and Aliens.

I would rate this higher but I think the songs taken from the EP sounded better back then and the "new" songs aren't as strong as I would hope. I quite rarely listen to this instead of the debut EP. The spoken intro leading into Lucifer's Hammer is brilliant.

Really enjoyable album with big accent on guitar leads and solos. The best thing, this guitar work sounds insanely catchy and memorable. And riffs in «Lucifer's Hammer» and «Aliens», oh boy... I can agree, this is truly overlooked stuff from that era.

Guitarwork is fantastic but I don't feel a lot of energy in this release. Production on this one if a bit of a drawback for me too, especially on the clunky sounding drums.
