Yes, I concur. Compare their debut to RIP, or hell, even their follow up, Peace Sells, and you'll see the progression to it.

Yeah its pretty obvious...I really didn't know how to spell it out for him.

Yes of course there is progression in Megadeth even though it has progressed into a watered down second rate version of itself it is impossible to say that everything sounds the same.

DAVE MUSTAINE what can i say about a man like this one?? he made a great band "megadeth" RUST IN PEACE this man disearves our respect

How was it? My experience was great! Mostly an amazing setlist.

^ yeah the show was good , except some fucked up sound system.....

Wouldnt be the first time. A friend of mine was at a Megadeth concert a few years ago (in Toronto I believe), and Dave kept pressing down on his ear piece and looking confused, then he whipped his guitar across the stage and stormed off, he came back after they fixed it though.

I saw them live a few months ago and it was fucking amazing. The way the set opened is there was a flashing strobe light over the drum kit and wind was blowing in his hair. He did a crazy fucking drum solo and kicked off into "Skin O' My Teeth."

Damn this band are heros because thay realise Live in Buenos Aires, thay didt record anything in overated brazil but do it in small Italy jejjeje I always be on my knees because band did it

Oh yeah, luckily Megadeth comes like every year (at least its been that way for 4 years running).

You know, it's a pretty enjoyable band (and it's weird that I'm saying it).

Mustaine: Great guitarist, total ass.

That's all I can really say.

I got the warchest for christmas, and it rocked my socks off.

I can't wait for them to come around again for GIGANTOUR because the last time they were here they put on one helluva kickass live show

Megadeth is okay. That's all I can really say about what I think of them. They're only okay. I went through a short Megadeth phase a while back, though. Very short. About three days long or so. That was the only time I really enjoyed listening to them a lot. Now for me it's just "oh, hey, Megadeth. Good song. Well, it's time for something else, I'm not in a Megadeth mood." There isn't really anything special about them, to be honest.

@GhostofPerdition: Well..I guess their more recent material might be defined as "okay" but lets face it...they had some kickass material back in the day...sure, Metallica had more focused song structures but Megadeth wins with the raw power that used to pour out their music back in the 80s...

Eh, you can call Metallica song structures more focused if you want to, but I disagree. I think that while their song structures might be different, one isn't really more focused than the other. However, I DO believe that Megadeth had alot more creativity in their riffs, and I think it's really cool that they had slightly progressive elements in their music for so long. Also, their first two albums had some strong Jazz influences (where I think the progressive elements come from to begin with) because Gar Samulson and Chris Poland were Jazz Fusion players.

Actually, they left because Chris Poland sold one of Dave's guitars for Heroin money, and Gar Samulson was a drunk....so Dave fired them.

I saw them last month too for the firs time...the setlist really impressed me! they played more than 15 songs I think, they ended the concert playing Holy Wars but while in the middle of the song they played Mechanix and then finished Holy Wars...I couldnt believe that! Tornado of souls is my favorite song from them

Megadeth were amongst the Origionaters of thrash metal, and even earn the title of being in the "Big Four" (even though Exodus was around before tey were.) Thrash metal, being the first subgenre of extreme metal, and certainly the most influential subgenre in the development of extreme metal, would then logically be placed into the extreme metal forum. So then Megadeth, too, would logically be placed into the extreme metal forum.

Sure, they aren't Br00tal death metal. And Sure, they're not Kvlt first or second Wave black metal, but they are a damned heavy band, and sure do kick alot of ass. So does really even matter how you classify them?

Definitly Thrash. Rust in Peace was Megadeth's last true thrash offering before going on that sucking spree for a few years. Their last two were good imo.

Dave Mustaine is great guitarist and Megadeth is great band...

For a long time I wondered what Dave Ellefson was up to since he let Megadeth. Well, I finally decided to research it, and he's been with a bunch of bands, as it turns out. I don't like soully but appearently he's been on two of their albums, and he's also been with a thrash band I've taken a liking to called Killing Machine. There are also a bunch of other bands I need to check out, and currently he's with this really crappy band called F5. Anyway, all this can be found at "http://davidellefson.com/home.aspx"

The best thing that ever happened to Dave Mustaine (IMO) was him parting ways with Metallica - his creativity and brilliant musicianship would have been suffocated by Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield.

The world would be a completely different place - well, my world would be anyway.

I've waited for like months for anyone to accept my Megadeth concert review... but I haven't heard anything of it.

They were so near from here (in Buenos Aires, I live in La Paz, Bolivia) and I didn't can to go to see them. Megadeth is one of my fav bands ever and I respect to Dave Mustaine a lot.. "United Abominations" is a great album but I miss Megadeth's best thrashing ("Peace Sells.....", "Rust in Peace", "Countdown.....") and their best line-up (Dave Ellefson, Marty Friedman and Nick Menza).

Megadeth...I like 'em, but I don't listen to them too often. I give them more respect for being good early metal, I guess. They're better than Metallica without a doubt.

The past serval months I have really gotten into Megadeth. They were sort of a band that I just past right over in my youthful Metal days, I think due to the fact that people told me you can either like Metallica or Megadeth...but not both. Well, I had gotten into Metallica at a young age (thanks mom & dad!) so that ruled out me being able to listen to Megadeth. But after seeing them at the first Gigantour (and yes I went to see Dream Theater and DEP, mostly) I was really impressed. So I broke down last year and bought all their albums. I must say that Peace Sells... is a great album, The System Has Failed is my favorite right now. I find Dave to be a really solid writer as well as player. His vocals were actually better live than in the studio, IMO.
