Hi there.
Is this decision of not voting merely a matter of believing "it won't change anything" or is meant to be a way of oppossion?

Change is not only in toppling a regime, you know.
Every country needs change unless you believe one is the ultimate utopia.
And parties can make that change in democratic countries...On health, economy, education, etc.

To be honest, i think a perfect democracy is utopia itself. because there will always be people opposing, no matter what. Thats how humans are. They always have to complain about something.

But in our case, things werent so famous before the world crisis. WITH the world economic crisis, things got much worse obviously. I know this current government is doing what it can, but the state of the country doesnt change much, even if it does improve a bit. And we need drastic changing or else more and more people will remain unemployed, living in bad conditions, and it will more and more become a vicious cycle :/

Thats what i believe in anyway. I always vote BE (left party) because i think they should get a chance. Right parties ALWAYS win, whether its PSD or PS. So why not trying something different? How worse COULD it be?

Think about that

I think there are still some people who would wish Salazar (dictator at same time as hitler in germany) was alive and ruling the country XD But no, i dont think there are any anarchist parties. There are some left parties like i said, but i dont think there are any extreme ones.

Portuguese people are relaxed and dont like having too much trouble XD Extremeness is hard work LOL joking

True, No one on this thread. But the way they were talking about that i concluded
that matter is controversial in the country. "To vote or not to vote, that's the question".

@BE: Maybe you should reconsider your understanding of Democracy for today's Democarcies are still far from Utopia and have never claimed to be one, have their flaws and rooms for improvements...But if having sex, porn, booz, etc mean everything to one, then they don't even need Democracy to be satisfied.

Ppl, I'm exhausted. It's indeed a good payment for the job but you do a lot during the day. You need to be in the section at 7am and you only leave after the votes are counted..could be at 20pm or 2am of the next day (next elections will a pain in the ass btw).

Yup but thats something u do once in how many months? (assuming you dont take it as a career lol) You get 75 euros per "day"! Never said its not tiring. Just said u have a "good excuse" to not go to your real job/classes next day, and you still win 75 euros besides it Tell me thats not damned good

Yes it is exhausting but I like to be involving in the voting process. At the end of the day, it's a good feeling. It's my second time and I'll continue to go because I gey paid and I contribute to the election. It is very demanding because it's not just being there and make sure people's names are on the lists, it is helping them solve the problem with their number, showing them what to do and all that and everything has to be right in the end.

You can have the next day but many people don't use it because the employers don't like it. Also, if you're in a party normally there are rules: the party nominates you to be at the assembly vote but they want a percentage (half or the total in some cases) of the payment.

This is like a part-time you do in every elections and besides, there's a community spirit on it, that's what I like about it.
