Can't imagine the band without Mustaine? Well of course not. Megadeth is Mustaine and always has been. That's almost like saying "Ayreon without Arjen or Burzum without Varg". ![]()

I've always loved Jr's bass playing, and he belongs in Megadeth really. ![]() Edit: I tried to post this in the news section, but for some reason, I can't post there. Can only mods post there or something?

12.02.2010 - 05:00 Written by Angelic Storm on 09.02.2010 at 03:28 Yeah, agreed. I'm really happy he's back. A very underated bassist imo. Megadeth basslines have always been something I loved, and now that he's back maybe they'll become prominent/noteworthy again.

Just recently had a revived appreciation for megadeth, having now got their first five albums. are any of their post-'countdown to extinction' albums worth listening to?

17.02.2010 - 14:52 Written by Valentin B on 16.02.2010 at 23:04 "second best" means you think it's best after RIP. But why would Rust In Peace be "of course" first? Imo, and in that of loads of old guys as well, Peace Sells is superior to RIP.

17.02.2010 - 18:43 Written by Arian Totalis on 12.02.2010 at 05:00 He is a very underrated bassist! I actually regard him as the best bassist in metal who uses a pick. Pick players are normally boring to listen to, but Jr's basslines really added more colour to Megadeth's songs, and something definitely felt missing from their sound after he left. J Lo was a good bass player, and a nice guy. But truthfully, he lacks both Jr's charisma and skill on the bass. Im very glad he is back! Written by BurbotsRevenge on 15.02.2010 at 11:24 You will get a different answer to that question almost every time you ask it. ![]() ![]() "Youthansia" is a great album, just don't go expecting any thrash, or you will be disappointed! "Risk" is almost universally regarded as their worst album, and while I would agree with that, (although "The World Needs A Hero" is weak overall as well) I like a good few songs on it. In fact "Seven" and "Time: The End" are the only songs I really dislike on the album.

If you not counted Megadeth as a thrashmetal band, Risk will be a decent album compare other. Post RIP, my favorite is Countdown, Endgame and United. Btw, what do you think the dream formation for Megadeth, including all former member ?

04.03.2010 - 11:35 Written by renai on 04.03.2010 at 04:25 Yep, I think to be able to appreicate Risk, you have to 1, not actively dislike more mainstream, radio friendly music. And 2, completely detatch Megadeth from thrash. For what it is, it's a pretty decent album. And songs like ''Insomnia", "The Doctor Is Calling", and especially "Prince Of Darkness", are definitely darker and more ominous than your standard radio friendly rock fare. I think it's that balance between the very overtly commercial songs like "Crush Em'", "I'll Be There" etc, and the darker tracks that makes the album quite a fun listen. Post RIP, my fave albums are, "The System Has Failed", "Youthanasia", and "United Abominations". As for my dream formation of Megadeth, it absolutely has to be the RIP lineup of Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Marty Friedman, and Nick Menza. That was the lineup when I first got into Megadeth, so it is close to my heart. It is also their most stable lineup, and probably for the only time in Megadeth's history, they seemed like a real band, a proper unit. As opposed to the "Dave Mustaine And Friends" feel of most of their other lineups! ![]()

10.03.2010 - 04:24 Written by Angelic Storm on 04.03.2010 at 11:35 yep, the same case can be applied to Helloween's Chameleon or even Metallica's Loud/reloud thing. the problem with RIP line up is, after all Marty done for those Japanese female singers, I hardly can imagine he play in Megadeth any more .

Dunno if that's relevant but Megadeth are the reason i started listening to metal, heard "the killing road" off the youthanasia album one day on the morning radio show back in 1995 when i was 9 years old, became a metalhead and couldnt go back since !
